After pouring the foundation, 28 days should pass and only then can the piping be installed on it.

Chopping into the lower bowl

Note. Cutting into the lower bowl is the most common method during the heyday of Russian architecture, but nowadays few carpenters choose this method, although it is not a drafty and warm corner joint. The third and fourth marks serve as a kind of limiter, that is, the mark of the maximum protrusion indicates the landing limit of the log, and if the landing depth is greater than the distance from the lower log to this mark, then edges, so-called “flats,” are made on both sides so as not to leave a gap. The fourth mark for the position of the log in the horizontal plane must be aligned with the control mark, which is applied to the lower log.

Now you need to align the horizontal position mark of the log with the control mark on the lower log, using a level, as shown in the photo above. Now, using a plumb line, you will need to align the end center of the upper log with the lower one. But if it is unstable, then the verticality of the mark is achieved using pads made of wood chips of different thicknesses.

Once you have the top log aligned, mark the bottom log to cut the bowl. By the way, this is exactly how gazebos for dachas are built from logs.

For a hidden spike (fat tail), set aside 4-5 cm on both sides of the bowl and draw a horizontal line for its upper plane. To make cutting easier, make cuts with a chainsaw.

To mark a hidden spike on both edges of the bowl, mark the middle and step back 5 cm on both sides of the center line, thus obtaining a 10-centimeter spike. For convenience, trim with a chainsaw and then cut out the excess with an ax and/or chisel. With such connections, log country houses turn out to be very warm.
