Introduction

Let's start with the fact that the ORSIS T-5000 is not exactly a SNIPER. In the sense that no one accepted it for service and any citizen can buy it with the appropriate documents.
An unprecedented excitement arose around the ORSIS T-5000 sniper rifle; the queue for purchase stretched out for several months. The Internet is full of rumors about its unprecedented accuracy. Let's figure out how things really are.
For a long time I myself was very proud of the manufacturers of ORSIS T-5000. And then this rifle appeared among many owners and comparative shooting began. And then it turned out that the Finnish sniper rifle Sako TRG 42 is still more accurate.

The German HK MR rifle in its sniper version is just as accurate. But she is SELF-LOADING.

Why is the ORSIS T-5000 sniper rifle so popular and famous? That’s why she has the right PR company and marketing.

MANUFACTURING TRUNKS

The more precise the barrel geometry, the more accurate the rifle it is mounted on will shoot. Behind the apparent simplicity of this thesis lies centuries-old experience in the development of weapons production, colossal engineering and intellectual work, and outstanding skills in handling complex equipment and tools. The barrel is the most difficult component of a precision rifled weapon to manufacture; a large amount of special equipment is used in its production.

Only high-quality barrel steels are used as raw materials for the manufacture of barrels for ORSIS rifles: 416R stainless steel, 4140 chrome-molybdenum steel.

High-tech equipment and advanced technologies make it possible to produce barrels with calibers from 5.6 mm to 20 mm at the plant’s production facilities with a barrel length of up to 1050 mm and any rifling pitch (including progressive¹), number of rifling (including odd), ratio of field width to rifling , rifling profile (note¹: progressive - variable rifling pitch, from larger to smaller: from 280 to 254)

All ORSIS barrel manufacturing processes, including deep drilling, bore reaming, and profiling, take place at the plant site. The key stage in the production of high-precision barrels is the production of rifling (profiling), which is carried out at the PROMTEKHNOLOGIYA LLC plant in two ways: mandreling and single-pass cutting with a cutter. The barrels for all the highest precision rifles known in the world were made using one of these technologies.

COMMENTS The honest truth is nothing to add.

PROFILING - SINGLE PASS CUTTING

Single-pass cutting with a cutter (trellis planing) is the most advanced of all currently existing methods for making trunks. Single-pass cutting is often called “champion technology” because Most modern world records in shooting sports were set when shooting from rifles with barrels made in this particular way. A special cutter, called a trellis, processes one cut for each pass through the channel. In total, 80-100 passes of the trellis are required to obtain the finished cut. Single-pass cutting machines were designed in the company's own design office with the assistance of consultants and component suppliers from Europe. Taking classic English machines for single-pass cutting as a basis, redesigning them and developing an original computerized control system, the specialists of PROMTECHNOLOGY LLC were able to create a fundamentally new technology. It allows you to obtain an almost ideal barrel bore geometry: the tolerance for the depth of the rifling is less than 0.0025 mm, and for the pitch of the rifling - 0.004 mm per 1 meter. The surface finish in the fields reaches Rz 0.16 µm, in the grooves – Rz 0.8 µm. Experts recognize barrels made using this technology as a work of engineering art, considering them one of the best in the world.

COMMENTS I have already said that eighty percent of the success of the ORSIS T-5000 sniper rifle is correct marketing. These ten lines fully confirm this. They give the impression of a technological revolution.
In fact, TRELLISHING has been used since the very beginning of the emergence of rifled weapons. This processing method produced excellent barrels, but was VERY SLOW. Therefore, the trunks began to be forged and mandrelized. In the United States of America, ALL sporting rifle barrels are made using this method.
The machines were naturally bought in England. The software and accessories were naturally tailored to suit your specific needs. And how beautifully they wrote it - they REDESIGNED it.

MANUFACTURING CHAMBERS

With no less attention, the specialists of PROMTECHNOLOGY LLC approach the manufacture of chambers. For this type of work, both CNC machines and universal lathes with a digital control system are used. Making an accurate chamber is almost an art, so the equipment for solving these problems was also redesigned in the company’s design bureau. The machines had special devices installed on both sides of the spindle, which made it possible to adjust the position of the barrel according to the runout. Thus, before the reamer touches the barrel, special indicators along the internal channel set the runout with an accuracy of no more than 0.0025 mm on both sides of the barrel. This allows you to achieve maximum coaxiality (the location of the axes on the same line) of the chamber and the barrel, which means making shooting accuracy even higher.

In addition, special pilot reamers and floating cartridges, a special polishing system for the chamber and bullet entry are used for these operations. To connect the barrel to the bolt group, a special full-profile thread with an offset pitch is used, which allows for an exceptionally tight fit, uniform distribution of the load on the thread turns when firing, and also minimizes or even completely eliminates the effect of a cold shot.

Most chambers can be made to C.I.P. standards. or SAAMI with short or long bullet entry, at the buyer's request.

COMMENTS Everything is the same as in the previous case - the guys again REDESIGNED everything, again a technical revolution.

MANUFACTURING FULLERS AND MUZZLE BRAKES

ORSIS and ORSIS SE barrels can have a matte finish or be polished. In addition, at the request of the customer, fillers can be cut on the trunk. Fullers are not only a design element, but also allow solving a number of functional problems, including lightening the barrel and increasing its cooling rate; a special technique is used in which accuracy is not compromised.

It is also possible to install muzzle brakes-compensators (DTC) on the barrels. The use of a compensator allows, by changing the direction and speed of movement of part of the powder gases, to reduce the recoil impulse and increase comfort when shooting.

COMMENTS The honest truth is that the fullers reduce the weight of the barrel. That's all. They do not significantly affect barrel cooling. The strength of the barrel and shooting accuracy are NEGATIVELY affected - when heated, the barrel with the fullers expands in the shape of a rose. Do we need it? Therefore, target rifles are never made with fullers. Fullers appear only in the light class where there are weight restrictions.

This is how precision is achieved - a barrel as thick as an arm and a sledgehammer.

Technical description of the ORSIS T-5000 sniper rifle

Multi-shot rifle with manual reloading with a longitudinally sliding rotary bolt with two front lugs.

The ORSIS T-5000 rifle was created for universal use - hunting and sports, the task was set to achieve ambitious goals: to ensure exceptional shooting accuracy, a high level of shooter comfort in the process of preparing a shot, in the firing and recoil phase and quick return of the rifle to the aiming line, high reliability and ergonomics, including transport. Each of these tasks is divided into subtasks, and some conflict with each other, but as a result of the joint efforts of shooters and designers, it was possible to create a product with very high consumer properties.
The stock is made of aluminum alloy D16T, the folding unit is made of hardened stainless steel and is specially designed so as not to “break” during operation in the most severe recoil calibers, plastic parts are made from the most high-strength polymers, all connections are only “steel to steel” "For this purpose, steel parts are specially installed in the stock.
The buttstock is equipped with an adjustable cheek piece and butt pad. The butt plate is made of special wear-resistant rubber with height adjustment. The buttstock is securely held in the folded position using a mechanical lock. The stock has lower and side swivels for attaching a tactical belt and bipod.
The balance and weight of the rifle are designed in such a way that when fired, the recoil goes strictly back, this allows you to control the target even during the firing process. An effective muzzle brake reduces recoil by almost fifty percent, and the adjustable trigger allows you to fire without disturbing your aim. High rigidity and stability of the stock maintains “zero” zeroing even after a long time.

The above is a description from the PROMTECHNOLOGY website, as you can see there is not a word about the fact that the rifle was intended for the army.
In total, there are three variants of the ORSIS T-5000 rifle for different cartridges. All cartridges are imported, and rightly so - well, our ancient cartridge with a welt cannot be a sniper.

You can compare in the photographs. In the bottom photo, the second cartridge from the right is extra.

This cartridge appeared in the sixty-third year of the last century. The task was to create a powerful cartridge with a high muzzle velocity to ensure a flat bullet trajectory. They began to solve this problem in the simplest way - they took a cartridge case large enough for this caliber and poured gunpowder into it from the heart. The sleeve turned out to be original. It has a special belt that strengthens the bottom of the cartridge case and helps to uniformly fix the cartridge case in the chamber, which has a positive effect on shooting accuracy.

The length of the cartridge is 85 millimeters. The length of the sleeve is 67 millimeters. The cartridge accelerates a light bullet up to a thousand meters per second. The power is about five thousand joules.

Externally, the ORSIS T-5000 sniper rifle chambered for 300 Winchester Magnum is no different from the previous two.

In our time of high-precision weapons, unmanned aerial vehicles, and satellite navigation, it may seem that the importance of an ordinary small arms has decreased somewhat. But this is a wrong worldview, especially if we are talking about a weapon for special shooters - snipers. Currently, virtually all the leading weapons powers in the world are developing their own types of sniper weapons. Our homeland, having a rich tradition of development and production of small arms, is no exception.

During the war, the Red Army did not have a special sniper rifle. Sniper scopes were installed on the best standards of “three-line” and SVT (which demonstrated the best accuracy). The situation was similar in the German army. After the end of the war, the situation changed somewhat: in the late 50s, the famous Dragunov self-loading rifle (SVD) was created, which 50 years later is still in service.

But, despite its unpretentiousness and highest reliability, the Dragunov rifle cannot be suitable for any kind of work. Now this weapon is moving more into the category of assault rifles with an optical sight. In Western countries, such rifles are called “high-precision support weapons,” and in the armies of NATO countries there is a weapon that performs similar functions. But in some cases you need a sniper weapon with higher accuracy and range. Employees of special services and special forces have a particularly acute need for such weapons.

In modern armed conflicts, also during special operations, snipers play a very important role. New technologies and the most advanced materials are now used to produce sniper guns. A modern sniper rifle is a real complex consisting of the rifle itself, an aiming device, many additional accessories and special ammunition.

Not long ago, a new unique high-precision rifle T-5000 was created in Russia, which can become the main weapon for more professional shooters.

The history of the creation of the T-5000 rifle

The overwhelming majority of Russian weapons are made at municipal enterprises. Our homeland is different from Western countries, where the government purchases weapons from private companies (from small arms to tanks and airplanes). Therefore, even more unusual is the fact that the latest high-precision sniper rifle was made by a company that was created with funds from personal investors. Now Russian law enforcement agencies mainly use foreign sniper systems, which is why the emergence of the Russian T-5000 rifle has attracted special attention from experts.

In 2011, the Promtekhnologii company opened a new high-tech weapons production facility in Moscow, the plant was named Orsis. The enterprise specialized in the production of hunting and sporting weapons, but the designers of the enterprise were also developing sniper systems of particular precision, created for use by special forces of law enforcement agencies (FSB, FSO, Ministry of Internal Affairs), as well as snipers of the armed forces.

The general director of the enterprise was a person who perfectly understands the features of his own products. Alexey Sorokin is a former master of sports of the USSR in bullet shooting. It was he who became the main designer and ideologist of the newest rifle; this man made the first sketches of the gun with his own hands.

At the end of the same year, a new ORSIS T-5000 sniper complex with unique technical features was presented, which immediately attracted the close attention of experts.

Now this rifle can be purchased in a civilian version, it costs almost 400 thousand rubles. Using specifically the T-5000 rifle, control team “A” of the FSB TsSN won the prestigious international competition.

In 2012, tests of this rifle began, both the FSB and the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs showed enthusiasm for it. In addition, the relevant services of foreign countries almost immediately became interested in this sniper complex. It may well be that soon the T-5000 sniper rifles will become another Russian weapons brand.

But the developers initially encountered certain difficulties with the Russian Ministry of Defense. According to the latest information, in 2015 alone, the Russian Ministry of Defense decided to purchase from 700 to 1400 T-5000 rifles. Earlier this year, this weapon was shown to Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Gun design

The ORSIS T-5000 rifle is a high-precision sniper weapon with manual reloading. The shutter is sliding, longitudinally rotary. It closes with two locking stops. The barrel, bolt and trigger mechanism of the T-5000 are made of special types of stainless steel.

Valleys are made on the barrel to give it additional rigidity and more intense cooling of the metal. The muzzle of the T-5000 barrel has a thread for installing a muzzle brake-compensator.

The gun's trigger mechanism has a very unusual design, developed by the company's engineers. It is made of special steels, and the trigger cover is made of titanium alloy. The mechanism is completely isolated from external influences; its fastening allows quick replacement even in the most unfavorable conditions.

custom_block(1, 85874861, 3797);

The trigger mechanism is adjustable for trigger force (from 900 to 1500 g), as well as for free movement of the trigger. On the T-5000 you can install a trigger of any geometry.

The fuse has three positions. It can completely block the bolt and trigger mechanism or block the firing pin and leave the bolt free (which is necessary when disassembling the gun).

The rifle is fed from a magazine with a capacity of 5 and 10 rounds. The magazine is inserted into the neck, which is an integral part of the stock.

The gun stock is made of strong and light duralumin alloy. The introduction of this material increases the strength of the structure, but at the same time gives a gain in mass. The T-5000 weighs less than its own foreign analogues.

For ease of transportation, the T-5000 stock can be folded. It is made of especially durable steel, equipped with a butt plate made of special rubber and a cheek rest. The butt plate and stop can be adjusted in height. The length of the butt is adjustable only with the help of a special lining under the butt plate.

The stock and receiver are separated from each other by a special layer impregnated with epoxy. This allows for better load distribution. During the process of modifications, a plastic attachment appeared on the forend, which allows you to fire while standing, kneeling, or sitting. The pistol grip is also made of plastic, which makes it more comfortable to use the rifle in high or very low temperatures.

The T-5000 rifle is designed for shooting at long distances, which is why it does not have open sights. On the receiver there is a Picatinny rail, which allows you to install different types of optical sights on the rifle. The manufacturer recommends using the South American NightForce sights or the Russian Daedalus sight. The receiver has fastenings for installing a night attachment to the sight.

On the front part of the forend there is a mount for installing a bipod. The rifle is equipped with a Harris Bipod type bipod, which can be adjusted in height and folded.

custom_block(5, 36278311, 3797);

The T-5000 rifle is made in two versions: chambered for 308 Winchester (7.62x51 mm) and 338 Lapua Magnum (8.6x70 mm). This ammunition has proven itself well and is widely used, which improves the commercial prospects of the rifle. But it's not just that. The situation with special ammunition for sniper guns in Russia is very deplorable.

What are the prerequisites for the highest accuracy of the T-5000

The accuracy of any weapon (and especially a sniper) depends on the quality of its production. The T-5000 can fire at any time of the day, in all weather conditions. Its accuracy is only half an arc minute at a distance of 500 meters. At a distance of three hundred meters, 5 shots hit a circle with a diameter of 4.3 cm. This is a unique indicator for a production gun. What is the secret of success?

The accuracy of a shot depends on a huge number of reasons; small arms developers need to take them all into account. The processing of the barrel is especially important; it must be made with the smallest tolerances. The barrel processing error of one micron allows achieving almost perfect accuracy. But achieving such characteristics is very difficult.

Rifles with this level of processing are usually made personally, to order, and they are very expensive. It is very difficult to achieve such a barrel error in a serial gun. Promtekhnologiya uses the “single-pass cutting” method to produce the barrel, which ensures similar accuracy. With all this, the equipment was created in our country, since similar machines are not currently supplied to Russia.

The bolt, its design and the quality of its production also seriously influence the accuracy of the shot. The design of the bolt group of the T-5000 rifle is such that it makes it possible to avoid a click before firing, which also affects aiming accuracy.

In addition, adjusting the trigger force makes it smooth and very comfortable for the shooter. The bolt group of the Russian rifle was so successful that it is already being intensively purchased by European and South American gun manufacturers.

The external iron parts of the rifle are coated with a special clay coating, which increases their wear resistance and significantly extends their service life.

The heavy-duty cartridges used on the T-5000 make it possible to perfectly hit a target at a distance of 600 to 1000 meters. This requires the introduction of more advanced optics, which must also withstand the highest loads associated with a massive cartridge. The Russian optical sight "Daedalus" perfectly meets all these requirements and is not much inferior to the best German and South American analogues. In addition, it seriously outperforms its foreign rivals in terms of price.

Technical properties of the T-5000 rifle

Below are the main tactical and technical properties of the sniper complex.

Sniper rifles have always held a special place among small arms. In order to make a sniper rifle, they always chose the most reliable model of a standard rifle, which was distinguished by high build quality and was significantly improved. Modern trends require not only constant modernization of existing sniper weapons, but also the creation of completely new high-precision models.

Requirements that new models of sniper rifles must meet

Russian weapons have always been famous for their stable quality and low price. Of course, you shouldn’t expect any outstanding results from it, but the models of Tokarev, Kalashnikov, Degtyarev and Mosin are known to weapon lovers around the world. The most famous sniper rifles are the old Mosinka, originally from 1931, and the SVD, which is still the most popular sniper weapon in the Russian army.

Although at one time the SVD was one of the best sniper rifles in the world, it is now a rather outdated weapon and inferior to many modern foreign analogues. Numerous attempts to modernize the SVD, which were supposed to solve the issue of increasing the flight range by increasing the caliber, did not yield positive results. That is why now the SVD is used mainly only by army snipers. Most special groups preferred to arm themselves with foreign-made sniper rifles and carbines.

Until recently, it was generally accepted that Russia did not know how to make accurate sniper rifles.
But the guys from ORSIS (Weapon Systems) came along... and turned everything upside down by creating a sniper rifle with sub-1/2 MOA accuracy.
The ORSIS T-5000 rifle made its presence known in 2012 at the World Championship among police and military snipers in Hungary: then the command team “A” of the TsSN FSB (better known as “Alpha”), performing with the ORSIS T-5000 rifles, became the winner of the championship world sniper shooting, winning gold in the general and police team championships, and the first two places in the individual competition.

The main criterion by which sniper rifles are measured is accuracy. The world's best models have an accuracy of no more than 1 MOA. What does it mean?
This means that the bullet will deviate from the aiming line at 100 meters by no more than 2.9 cm (1 arc minute is 2.9089 cm at 100 meters). The lower this figure, the better.
For example, the accuracy of the well-known SVD (Dragunov Sniper Rifle) is 1.24 MOA, which is due to the design feature, mainly its self-loading.
The creators of the T-5000 claim that their brainchild has an accuracy of less than 0.5 MOA.

One of the championship tasks is shooting at a .50 caliber cartridge case. Distance 121 meters

And, judging by the performance of our snipers, they are not lying.
Last year, by the way, our FSB officers with ORSIS won again at the World Sniper Shooting Championship.

Would you say it's a coincidence?
And in general, maybe ORSIS has nothing to do with it, but our snipers are the coolest and will even kill anyone with a Kalash?
Let's get a look!

The sniper shooting championship this year (2015) was won... by the Chinese.
It turns out that our snipers are not always the most accurate.
What do you think - what were the Chinese armed with?
That's right!.. - ORSIS.

The Chinese police sniper team (SWAT, Beijing), according to the Reuters news agency, using DH 5-20x56 day sights, manufactured by Dedal-NV CJSC, with ORSIS T-5000 rifles (Promtekhnologiya company), and other Chinese teams took 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th places among the best snipers in the world(65 teams, 130 shooters from 16 countries) at the 14th World Cup among police and military snipers, which took place in Hungary (Budapest, June 20 - 24, 2015).

This year, Chinese shooters showed excellent results: in the military singles competition, Chinese shooter Wang Yongchuen became the champion with 952 points. Wang and Li Wen won the overall team military event with 1,858 points. At the event, Wang was awarded the title of "Best of the Best" among all shooters. He and Lee also received a special prize for having the highest team shooting score. Chinese shooter Chen Yong won the police singles event with 880 points. Chen and his colleague Li Zhiyu won the overall police team event with 1,739 points.

Or here's another:
Amazing success of ORSIS T-5000 in the UK

On July 19, in the town of Beasley, Surrey, the next stage of the prestigious McQueen precision shooting tournament was held, where British shooter Jan Berry performed brilliantly with the ORSIS T-5000 rifle.
The athlete showed excellent results in three different disciplines (B-class, E-class and F-class - high-precision long-distance shooting), in each of which he won a place in the finals, scoring the maximum number of points - 50/10. This unprecedented case In the history of the tournament, no shooter has ever been able to use the same rifle in different classes and achieve such amazing success. Interesting that Ian Berry I met the T-5000 just a day before the start of the competition...

It turns out... it’s not at all a matter of “Russian riflemen”... but still an excellent rifle!
Those. when many experts call ORSIS T-5000 the best sniper rifle in the world, then this is not an empty phrase.
And the World Sniper Shooting Championship confirms their words.

Stainless rifle

The T-5000 rifle exists in two basic versions - with a standard bolt group chambered for the .308 Winchester / 7.62x51 cartridge and with an extended bolt group chambered for the .338 Lapua Magnum / 8.6x71 cartridge.
In both calibers, ORSIS rifles in real field conditions provide very high and stable accuracy of fire - less than 0.5 MOA, often about 0.3 MOA and better.
The practical firing range for .308 caliber rifles is about 800 meters, for .338 caliber rifles - up to 1500 meters.

Trunks ORSISs are being made stainless steel. The rifling is formed using a single-pass cutting method (tellis planing), which ensures very high quality barrel bore geometry, and, as a result, stable and high accuracy of fire.
Original the bolt group is also made of stainless steel. The bolt is longitudinally sliding, rotating, and is locked with two lugs in its front part.

The trigger mechanism (trigger) is also made of stainless steel, has full adjustment for all main parameters. The trigger force, depending on the trigger version, can be smoothly adjusted in the ranges of 500 - 900 g or 1000 - 1500 g.
The three-position safety is located in the rear part of the bolt and, if necessary, allows you to manipulate the bolt with the safety on, or completely block the trigger and bolt.

The T-5000 has an aluminum “skeleton” stock with a folding stock of the original design (mechanical locking), a plastic pistol grip and a butt cheek. When placing the receiver in the stock, the so-called “glass-bedding” is performed, i.e. making a “bed” in the stock for the bolt group from an epoxy composition with a filler (aluminum or steel powder), this ensures a very tight connection between the bolt group and the stock, which significantly increases the stability of the characteristics of the accuracy of fire.
The stock has a special gasket for hand-held shooting. The handguard has a special design for mounting a bipod (optimized for Harris, but also has a standard swivel), as well as brackets for a pre-objective attachment. The force when folding the stock is about two kilograms, which ensures the required structural rigidity.
To install sighting devices, a “Picatinny rail” is made on the receiver. Due to the specific nature of the use of rifles (high-precision shooting at medium and long distances), open sights in the basic configuration are not installed on ORSIS sniper rifles.
Cartridges are fed from detachable box magazines with a capacity of 5 and 10 rounds.
Barrel length - 610 mm
Weight - from 5.6 kg

This is the kind of gun that the “vatniks from Arkhangelsk” built.
:)

In addition to such highly specialized “tools,” the guys from ORSIS also make guns for mere mortals that are simpler and a little cheaper. :)
If anyone has an extra 130 thousand or more, you can

Humanity is beginning to forget that classical weapons are still capable of causing many problems for the enemy. The domestic high-precision sniper rifle ORSIS T-5000 is amazing in every sense. Take, for example, this detail: the entire ORSIS plant is financed with money from private entrepreneurs - a unique case for Russia. In addition to producing sporting and hunting weapons, the company has a whole line of special weapons for the needs of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the FSB. The T-5000 precisely belongs to this “special weapon”.

Firing range and caliber of guns

The Russian rifle is based on an original stainless steel bolt, which is available in two versions for different calibers - 7.62x51 mm and 8.6x71 mm. The maximum firing range depends on the caliber of the cartridge and the size of the bolt mechanism; for the first it is 800 meters, and for the second it is up to one and a half kilometers.

The US product has a custom caliber 300 Winchester Magnum 7.62x67mm. On the one hand, the increased size of the ammunition gives a greater (but still less than the T-5000) firing range, about 1200 meters. But this advantage is completely offset by the increased brightness of the flash when fired, because a sniper rifle, first of all, is a weapon hidden from prying eyes and it is simply stupid to unmask yourself with it.

Accuracy

The “high-precision” feature mentioned in the name of the T-5000 was added for a reason. In terms of accuracy, the T-5000 surpasses all domestic and the vast majority of foreign analogues.

The calculations take an indicator called “minute of angle” (MOA) - this is the accuracy of shooting from different distances in the absence of wind. An MOA equal to one means that the weapon has a shooting accuracy of about 2.9 centimeters when shooting at 100 meters. If the indicator is less than one, then the weapon can be called sniper or accurate. Now imagine that ORSIS has this figure of less than 0.5 MOA. At the same time, the XM2010 has much lower performance - at test sites the accuracy was about 1 MOA.

First in everything

The T-5000 stock, which serves to connect all parts and make the rifle easier to use when shooting, is made of an aluminum alloy with increased wear resistance. The trigger mechanism has an interesting feature - the trigger can be set to several different types of required force, from 500 to 1500 grams. The cartridges are fed by magazines of 5 and 10 pieces, respectively.

The rifle was designed in such a way that, when fired, it minimizes the physical recoil for the shooter, for which purpose the “knockover” effect of the weapon was reduced. Russian designers also took care of those who like to hunt “from their knees”, for which a plastic handguard was installed for convenient holding of the rifle.

The T-5000 weighs from 5.8 to 6.2 kilograms, which is less than the American XM2010 and all other foreign rifles.

The receiver has a Picattini type rail, which allows you to install almost any sight on the T-5000, for example, the wonderful domestic Daedalus with a movable reticle and the ability to use at night. For the manufacture of the barrel, trellis planing technology is used; it does not allow the rifle to be produced in cosmic quantities, but it takes its toll on quality; such a barrel will last up to two times longer. The XM2010 uses a different method, the so-called “mandrel”, which is less expensive for the enterprise, but requires more frequent barrel replacement due to wear. Experts know that burnishing takes 10 seconds, while planing takes an hour.

The XM2010 is made from a combination of aluminum and plastic and is coated with an anti-corrosion coating. It has only one magazine option - for 5 rounds. The only possible advantage of the XM2010 is the Advanced Armament Corp. removable muffler. According to its manufacturer, the muffler suppresses fire by 98 percent and suppresses recoil by 60 percent. True, one has to take these characteristics solely on faith, because this muffler is not available for free sale in the USA.

The T-5000 can be purchased in a special civilian version intended for sport shooting and hunting. The rifle is scheduled to enter the Russian armed forces in 2014. The XM2010 has been entering service with the US Army since 2010. There is information about its use in Afghanistan and Iraq, with problems traditional for American weapons - sand and not the best adaptation for extreme military conditions.

By the way

The cult American actor Steven Seagal, also known as an excellent shooter, after visiting the ORSIS enterprise, said that the T-5000 rifle is rightfully considered the best in the world, and its accuracy and ease of use will be unsurpassed for a long time. It is no coincidence that the actor was thinking about creating his own rifle based on the T-5000 and has already discussed possible cooperation with a Russian company.
