Problems with water in summer cottages make many people think about building a well.

Cause shortage water is especially acute in summer, when it is necessary for watering the garden and vegetable garden.

Drilling a well will help find a solution in this case, but this will require special equipment.

In its turn, construction a do-it-yourself well will save money and solve problems with water supply.

Choose a place

When choosing a place for the construction of a well, it is important to correctly determine its quantity and quality, as well as its composition. soil. For the well, you need to choose a place away from possible sources of household pollution that enter the soil.

If there is an autonomous sewage system, it will need to be improved and made sealed. The fact is that groundwater will gradually get into household drains, after which the taste of pure water will deteriorate, and it will become unsafe for health.

It is better to install a well on sublime location, and for convenience - closer to home.

In the spring there is a high probability of getting on top water. As for the soil, it should be noted here that a large presence of sand and earth will facilitate drilling wells, but clay soil and a large number of large stones, on the contrary, will create many difficulties.

Well types

There are three type wells: shaft, key and tubular. Let's take a closer look at their features:

  • cap(located above the earth's surface);
  • trunk well;
  • intake component.

Mine wells are convenient in that during droughts they always have water at the expense of additional reservoirs (zumrov).

For guaranteed reserve you need to make the lower, underwater part of the building a little wider, make it a tent.

  • Tubular.
  • This type of well is also called Norton - a kind of artesian structure, which consists of pipes. Its diameter should be equal to 25-45 mm, equipped with a sieve tip.

    It is used to supply water. The tube is inserted using a drill. It is installed in the aquifer.

    With absence water pressure the pipe is supplied with a pump, in the pressure water layer it can be used without a pump. For the construction of a tube well, it is necessary to carry out drilling work.

    A well of this type is much more expensive than a mine well, since the soil is drilled. In turn, it is much more profitable because the water does not stagnate and is always usable.

    Tools for the job

    To build a well, you will need the following tools:

    • scrap (preferably two: short and long);
    • all types of shovels;
    • sledgehammer;
    • scoop (required for a liquid layer of soil);
    • rope;
    • tub (with its help the soil rises);
    • several buckets;
    • trolley (for transporting soil);
    • rope ladder (for descent and ascent into the pit);
    • pump (for pumping water);
    • portable lighting fixtures;
    • winch.

    With the help of a winch it is very convenient to raise and lower materials, only in order to use it you need a tripod. It will need to be installed above the well.

    From the materials for the well you will need: cement, sand and gravel

    Stages of work

    The construction of a well is not an easy task and therefore, in order to facilitate and speed up the work, it is recommended to invite assistants.

    Digging a pit

    After the place for the construction of the well is determined, he digs pit. Digging a hole for the well is carried out by one person, the rest of the assistants are at the top. They will lift the soil, transport it and lower the materials down.

    First, a hole is dug to the depth of one ring. After that, one is placed in it ring, and all the soil is removed from under it, gradually deepening this ring. Going further a little further, it is established second ring.

    The rings are placed on top of each other (the second on the first, the third on the second, etc.), increasing the shaft column. Under its own concrete weight, the column will slide down to the same depth as the soil is removed from under the first ring.

    Approaching aquiferous the layer will be determined very easily, in the pit you will feel a strong drop in temperature and increased humidity of the underlying soil.

    This stage of the construction of the well is the most time-consuming and responsible, so it will take a lot of effort and patience. Wet priming must be removed very quickly. You may need a powerful mud pump.

    If it is not at hand, then reaching the aquifer, you will need to make every effort and dig very quickly 2-4 m in depth (the speed of the flow of water in the well depends on it).

    At the very bottom of the well, as a filter, you will need to lay gravel(layer up to 30 cm). The gaps formed between the soil and the rings (concrete slabs) are also filled with gravel. The last laid ring will remain on the surface (it is not buried in the ground).

    To prevent leaks into the well of high waters, will help linen cord placed between the rings. The joint of the rings must be cemented. On the surface of the well (around it) is laid clay castle. Wet clay, taken out of the pit during digging, is laid around the well and rammed with a log.

    When the well is filled with water, it will need to be pumped out until it is replaced clean and transparent.

    We make blind areas

    Blind areas protect the well from falling into it contaminated upper and melt waters. In addition, with blind areas, the structure looks much prettier and more convenient for collecting water.

    Blind areas are installed one year later after the construction of the well

    Time is needed for the rings to settle well and compact. If the blind areas are built upon completion of the structure, bias upper rings may damage them.

    To perform the blind area, clay or concrete is required. Permissible thickness blind areas - from 20 to 30 cm, width - 1.2 -2.5 meters. A clay pavement is a compacted clay layer laid in a recess of a certain size.

    However, it has one drawback: if water gets on the surface of the layer, a sticky layer forms. dirt. As a result, additional expenses for protective coating.

    Performance concrete blind area: initially a gravel pillow is laid, a formwork is installed on it, into which concrete is poured. To increase the service life of the blind area will help a reinforcement mesh embedded in the formwork.

    Concrete pavement requires waterproofing outer walls of the well. This will help to avoid rigid adhesion of the last ring of the well to the frozen surface of the blind area.

    Roof

    The arrangement of the roof must begin with roof trusses, which is a rigid structure to which the crate is attached. A solid board (3 cm thick, 180 cm long or roof height) is suitable for this. Installation of the crossbar and jib should be carried out using a board (2.5 cm).

    Material for the roof, you can choose at your discretion: a board, a metal sheet, roofing felt, and so on.

    decorative option

    Decorative well is in fashion today. It is a country decor and some summer residents equip it with all the details so subtly and accurately that it cannot be distinguished from a real building. Below are photos of decorative wells in the country, which you can do with your own hands.

    Decorative wells are made of wood, tires and other materials. It all depends on how sharply the owners approach its production and what zest they put into it.

    A decorative well is great for decorating a well with electric pump. Some summer residents, using tires to complete the well, plant flowers there, and they perfectly complement each other with their unusualness.

    Decor

    A beautiful well always catches the eye and gives the cottage an unusual look. Regardless of whether a decorative well is installed or real, it should look like a well, and design fantasy can be used at your discretion.

    Consider a few styles designing a well in the country with a photo:

    1. Country- a wooden hut, inside which you can create any conditions and even install household appliances (that is, the natural look of a wooden well made of logs with a canopy);

    2. Well - crane evokes old times. A distinctive feature of such a well is the mechanism for raising water, resembling a crane's head on a long neck;

    3. Chalet. Some designers suggest building a chalet well. However, there are two nuances: firstly, the house must be built in the same style, and secondly, this style is characteristic of Switzerland.

      Buildings are decorated with natural or artificial stone. And why not build such beauty on your site and it doesn’t matter that in Russia !;

    4. East style. A bright, colorful structure should have canopy. Often it is decorated with various amulets - figurines.

      The head can be made of stone or wood. For the roof, it is better to use pagoda soft tiles (raised corners in oriental style). The well must have a wooden bucket;

    5. Modern style. Wells of such a plan are made of polycarbonate, tiles, concrete. Many summer residents use metal or brick in construction.

    Content Rules

    The very first and most important rule must be observed when building a well, choosing drilling site wells. The constancy of water quality, the absence of possible contamination by bacteria and chemicals, and so on, depend on this.

    • in the next 20 m from the well it is forbidden to wash cars, water cattle, rinse clothes, etc., which may contribute to pollution water;
    • the head of the well must be equipped lid(de-reinforced concrete floor with a hatch);
    • around the well should stand fencing;
    • warming and protection of the well from freezing must be done with straw, hay or sawdust. It is completely forbidden to insulate with glass wool and other synthetic materials;
    • if necessary, a well is needed clean(remove leaves, mosquitoes and other debris);
    • after cleaning must be carried out disinfection structures;
    • in a timely manner replace worn out equipment.

    A well in the country is extremely necessary and irreplaceable, therefore the construction of such a plan is necessary.

    However, if you have never had to deal with structures of this type, then before starting work, it is recommended to look through a lot of literature, turn to friends who have already installed a well, or come to the help of special people involved in drilling wells and building a well .

    Each of us makes the choice himself, the main thing is that the well should stand!!!

    Square wells are a great option for any personal plot. They harmoniously fit into the surrounding landscape due to the presence of wooden components of the structure. Made in the form of a house, decorative wells do not take up much space and attract with a unique appearance.

    Wells made in a non-standard solution.

    Decorative wells, made in non-standard solutions, always look organically in the courtyard of each house. Such designs are able to hide the imperfections of the landscape and emphasize the advantages of the layout. It is best to place the above options close to vegetation.

    Hexagonal

    Hexagonal wells made of wood with a gable roof are an elegant design that fits perfectly into the style of the estate. Such decor objects can be additionally coated with paints and varnishes, which will give the well even more sophistication.

    In the form of a mill

    If you want to create an unusual atmosphere on your site, you should pay attention to the well in the form of a mill. This will give your homestead originality and uniqueness. This design is best placed in the garden.

    small wells

    If you do not have a lot of free space, you should not deny yourself such a luxury as a well. Small decorative wells do not take up much space in the yard. At the same time, such wells can significantly transform the appearance of any courtyard and garden.

    Wells with a flower bed

    To give elegance and originality to any estate, decorative wells, made in the form of a flower bed, are capable. For the manufacture of the lower row of such wells, you can use timber or wooden boards. On top of the above building materials, a slab is installed, complemented by flowers. Such options for wells look wonderful in the garden. They cross out the style of the decor and give it uniqueness.

    Rural style

    To add originality to any country house, wells created in a rural style will help. They are the embodiment of Slavic traditions, which look great against the background of trees and flowers. For this reason, such products are best placed in the garden.

    Ancient wells

    the tree of this well is sharpened antique, an important role in this design is played by the paintwork

    An old decorative well is a good solution for transforming a courtyard in a private house. They can be installed in cottages, expensive villas. They will not spoil the surrounding space with their appearance. On the contrary, such wells give a peculiar charm and sophistication. Your guests will surely appreciate your resourcefulness and individuality.

    Japanese style

    If you want to achieve an original decor in your backyard, you can install a well made in the Japanese style. This design can be supplemented with traditional plants characteristic of Japan. In particular, the deck will look great against the backdrop of the Japanese Cherry Sakura. Such designs can be painted in white or red. Also attract the attention of the classic options, complemented by paint and varnish products.

    Decorative well with a crane

    A decorative well with a crane is a great option for transforming a private house for a number of reasons. First of all, such decor objects are traditional in nature. After all, even our ancestors used wooden sculptures of cranes as decoration of wells to maintain well-being in the family. In addition, such designs are distinguished by originality.

    Assembly and installation of a decorative well with your own hands from start to finish

    Do not place a wooden well in a place closed to the eye. In order for its outlines to look harmoniously in the environment, you need to take care of the landscaping of the territory, it can be like bushes, flower beds, etc., also such a well will not be badly combined with some kind of stone refinement .... This decorative element is able to transform the landscape of any estate. With it, you can paint any garden with your own hands and give the courtyard originality.

    Video instruction

    If you decide to build it yourself, you should know that a large capacity is needed as a basis for such a well. A large tank or barrel will do just fine. The above structural elements are installed deep into the ground. Previously, a layer of sand is poured into the bottom of the dug hole. After mounting the container, the slots should be filled with earth or crushed stone.

    Walls

    1. Using a carpenter's square, mark the position of the cutouts on the wall boards.
    2. On a fine-toothed saw, use double-sided adhesive tape to mark the depth of the cuts, and only then make two identical cuts in the marked places.
    3. Using a chisel, remove the gaps between the cuts.
    4. The surface of the grooves is cleaned with a file, and the cutter is used to round the boards.
    5. After that, the wall is assembled, inserting the boards with grooves one into the other.
    6. Every second board must be sawn lengthwise into two halves and on the upper crown.
    7. With the help of glue and screws, wooden linings are attached to the upper boards.
    8. Parapet boards require cutting.
    9. The boards are connected with glue, and to the false walls with screws screwed from below. In the parapet boards, four grooves must be selected from below, where the frame racks will be attached.

    frame

    1. Take pine boards measuring 20 by 96 mm. On them to make the contours of the details of the racks. Cutting is best done with a jigsaw.
    2. There may be irregularities in the bends. They are removed by a grinding roller, which is fixed to the drilling stand.
    3. Ledges are made on the racks, a roof will be attached to them. The corners are marked with a carpenter's square.
    4. Holes for dowels are drilled at the ends of the supports under the gate.
    5. Holes for the axis are drilled in the supports for the gate. The racks and supports connected with glue are temporarily fastened with clamps, while spacers must be placed between the supports.
    6. Racks are fastened with cross-links only not on four, but on two on each side.
    7. On the inside of the well rack, they are connected with bolts in the corners of the walls.
    8. If the material is large, then the jigsaw can move to the side. In this case, it is best to make vertical cuts.

    Ideas for decorating and ennobling in photo illustrations

    Every day, among lovers of countryside recreation, there are more and more people who want to transform a personal plot with the help of a decorative well. They really are a bright decoration of any patio. But for this they must harmoniously fit into the style of the landscape. For this reason, one should responsibly approach the design of this decor object.

    A decorative well can not only add style and originality to your site, but also hide layout flaws. In particular, the correct design of this design allows you to hide pipes and other communications. In addition, with the help of wells, you can protect water containers from pollution.

    The main task of any decorative element is to achieve an aesthetic appearance of your garden. At the same time, every home craftsman can arrange it as he pleases. The better the fantasy, the more likely it is to make the backyard original. If you do not have specific ideas, you can use the following recommendations.

    The design of any well depends, first of all, on its location. If you decide to install it in the garden, you can additionally equip it with garden paths, alpine slides, flowerpots, and a small wooden fence. Such a well will transform any garden. Also, the design process depends on the type of well. After all, if it is made in the old form, modern jewelry and accessories will not look so harmonious against its background.

    well decoration with burlap, - old unnecessary pieces of matter from furniture or other woven products

    But, for wells made in the form of a gable roof, unique accessories will fit perfectly. Their appearance can be transformed by complementing the classic style with a sculpture of a crane, a windmill, or simply interesting flowerpots. Wells in the form of a house (teremka) also look interesting. It can be additionally equipped with interesting carved details.

    If we are talking about a well made in an oriental style, then it is better to match the style. Nearby you can plant Sakura or other plants characteristic of the East. Naturally, if they get along in the existing soil.

    Finally, I would like to note that decorative wooden wells can fit into the style of any composition. In the design, they can be supplemented with various flowers, plants, stone outbuildings and a variety of accessories. In the process, the main thing is to achieve harmony and originality. In this case, do not abuse the many decorative elements.

    The well can rightly be called a symbol of civilization. Since the advent of hydraulic structures, people have abandoned the nomadic lifestyle and switched to a settled way of life. There was a source of water at every house adjoining plot. But if earlier it was used directly for household needs, now it is also used for decorative purposes, decorating the overall design of the estate, a private house.

    Design features

    The finish of the structure is selected depending on the style of the entire site, and should be combined with the exterior of the main building. It can be made from the following materials: savage stone, wood, concrete, plastic, brick, plaster, using other raw materials. The main thing is that the building material is wear-resistant, does not deteriorate from temperature changes.

    When considering the design of the facility, attention should be paid to the need for periodic maintenance of the spring, namely, cleaning and disinfection. Accordingly, access to the head should be free, and decorative elements should not interfere with the implementation of auxiliary work.

    Ordinary facing materials can look rather dull, so wells are often painted with multi-colored paints, decorative painting is done, which you can freely do on your own, even in the absence of painting talents, it is enough to use stencils. In addition to painting, you can use floristry, create a composition of flowers around.

    The design can be used for water extraction or for decorative purposes.

    If practical application is considered, then it is necessary to protect it from sewage getting inside, for this the head is made higher, a blind area is poured around, it is covered or a roof is installed.

    Structures can be used both to receive water and to remove it, they are called infiltration and absorbing, respectively. They are depressions in the ground that reach the aquifer. They can go several hundred meters deep (artesian wells). Depending on the type of soil, the required volume of produced water, its depth, landscape, as well as technical capabilities, it is possible to equip key, log, bore wells. There are also decorative models that are used mainly for aesthetic enjoyment. Consider in detail the existing types:

    1. Key. Construction work does not take much time, material costs are minimal. The main condition is the presence of a source on the surface. For ascending springs that come to the surface due to a violation of the integrity of waterproof rocks, a concreted round or square platform is made, deepened by 20 cm. If the key is downward, then an additional filter is installed.
    2. Mine. It is constructed subject to the occurrence of water at a depth of up to 25 meters. It consists of a cap, a shaft, a water intake level. Depending on the type of the last of the listed parts, all designs are divided into incomplete, complete, perfect with a sump.
    3. Tubular. Both shallow and deep wells are drilled. It consists of interconnected metal pipes. A filter is installed from below, a hand pump is installed from above. For shallow wells, pipes of the same diameter are used. Small wells are also called Abyssinian, Norton, deep-water - artesian.
    4. Decorative. They are used to decorate the site, as well as to mask engineering communications, in isolated cases - as a well with drinking water. They can be additionally decorated with a roof on which ampelous plants are planted.

    Well design and functions

    1. Before starting the construction of the structure, it is necessary to draw up a project. You can do it yourself, download it from the Internet. It consists of several stages: General provisions. They include engineering and geological data, technical indicators, goals pursued. At this stage, it is decided what function the structure will perform:
    • If it acts only as a decor, then it remains to choose a suitable place for installation, decide on construction materials, cladding.
    • For the spring, which will be used for drainage, hydrogeological studies of the soil are carried out. If it is water-absorbing, filter models are installed, where moisture is poorly absorbed - accumulative.
    • Wells that serve as a source of water (plumbing option) also require preliminary studies related to determining the depth of the aquifer.
      2. Graphic part. It consists of drawings of the main components, the appearance of the building, the roof plan, if any, recommendations for finishing, the technologies used, the location of lighting fixtures, electrical outlets (socket, light bulb).
      3. Specification. It includes materials and equipment used for construction.

    Tips and precautions when building a well yourself

    Construction is fraught with danger, since when digging a mine, a person is in a limited enclosed space. Having decided to build a structure with your own hands, you should adhere to certain safety rules, which boil down to the following points:

    1. The construction site where the work will be carried out is fenced. Then it is cleared of unnecessary elements that may accidentally fall into the mine. It is forbidden to place heavy devices near the recess. The load they create on the soil can lead to rock collapse.
    2. Sometimes hazardous gases enter the mine, in which case forced ventilation is installed. To check for foreign matter, an open source of fire is lowered down.
    3. When deepening, there is a lack of natural light, so it is necessary to have additional light sources, for example, a flashlight mounted on a helmet, a powerful spotlight aimed at the bottom of the dug hole.
    4. Be sure to provide personal protective equipment - boots, gloves, suits, helmets.
    5. An observer must be constantly present near the mine, who, in the event of an emergency, takes measures for the emergency lifting of workers.
    6. As the mine walls deepen, they are periodically strengthened.
    7. Before starting work, the mechanisms used are checked for serviceability.

    There are many folk ways in which a choice is made. You can use dowsing, use a dowsing frame, look around and find a swarm of insects that hover over the source. However, in order to correctly determine the very place, it is enough to adhere to certain rules:

    • The building must not interfere with the use of other objects, such as flower beds, finished or planned buildings, garden paths.
    • On the site, you should choose the most elevated place, this will avoid the ingress of rainwater and soil saturated with it.
    • The lowest place must be planned for a compost pit, septic tanks, treatment facilities.
    • The distance from the well to the cesspool should be taken into account, it is more than 15 meters.
    • The structure should be located close to the house, but not too close, the minimum distance exceeds 8 meters.

    You need to make a choice on your own, especially if specialists are hired to do the work, who not only don’t care where to dig, the main thing for them is how to make it easier, so they will recommend the place where the soil is softer.

    Choice of finishing materials

    Work can be done using different building materials. Each of the options you choose has its pros and cons. In order not to make a mistake, to make the right decision, it is necessary to evaluate the components used.

    Wood

    Wood can be called a classic material, it is suitable both for finishing shafts and as a basis for heading, well pillars, and roofing. With its help, decorative finishing is performed, for example, carving, painting, complemented by a drawing, an image.

    Wood cladding has its own characteristics:

    • The material is inexpensive. It can be found on the market, in hardware stores, at sawmills.
    • The raw material is malleable. Allows you to create beautiful structures that harmoniously fit into the overall style of the cottage. Tools for work can be found in almost every home.
    • For landscaping, you can use ready-made finishing products, for example, imitation of timber (false), lining, blockhouse. Such components can significantly reduce the time spent on work, get an excellent result.
    • The design can be additionally decorated with original carved elements.
    • It is better to install a roof over the mine, which will protect the recess from precipitation, leaves, and other foreign objects. Plus, it's a great decorative item.

    Ennobling a storehouse with a tree is a great option. However, the building material has two important drawbacks - poor resistance to a humid environment, it is a good food base for pests. Therefore, before using raw materials for cladding, it must be treated with special varnishes, antiseptics.

    Brick and its varieties

    There are several types of such building materials - silicate, ceramic, raw. You can finish the building with any of the above. For example, red brick will give the object a bright color, it will look good in a summer cottage. A versatile material is the burnt clay option. It can be both overlaid with a finished head, and completely lined up.

    For the construction of a brick wall or its sheathing, it is necessary to adhere to certain rules:

    • The arrangement is made only from raw materials that have a full-bodied structure.
    • The material absorbs moisture, so the surface must be periodically treated with waterproof varnishes. Apply a layer of plaster, when it dries, rub in additional cement.
    • For work, it is desirable to use the same building material with which the house is lined outside.
    • The masonry is made both round and square. For the first option, less raw materials are used.
    • The width of the masonry should not exceed the size of two bricks (25 cm).

    Stone

    Stone structures are popular. To decorate a building with such material is much more expensive than the options considered. But the result is worth it. The result is a stylish structure with increased wear resistance.

    The main characteristics of such a cladding are as follows:

    • For work, you can use both natural and artificial stone.
    • For decoration, small rounded stones and large cobblestones are used.
    • The material is used to finish the shaft and head.
    • If the work is done with high quality, the building will last more than a decade.
    • To emphasize the structure, you can lay out a path to it from the same building material, install a roof covered with metal tiles from above.

    Finishing materials and their combination methods

    In addition to these options, you can use plastic or siding. The set up is fairly fast. Looks good porcelain or ceramic tiles. It can be smooth or rough, matte or glazed, antique. Separately, clinker tiles, consisting of burnt slate clay, can be distinguished. Over the years, this material does not change the external structure, is resistant to moisture, resembles brickwork.

    If you choose the option of ordinary painting and plastering of the structure, then you do not need to use wood, brick or stone for cladding. It is enough to clean the surface of the concrete ring, plaster it, cover it with a primer layer, and paint it. Also, plaster is often used for brick buildings, and painting in its pure form - for wooden ones.

    Metal and forged elements are mainly used for pillars and roofing. Combined structures are often made, for example, heads made of wooden slats for a barrel, tied with metal rings.

    Design and style

    Landscape design is a composition of all elements located on the site, whether it is engineering, biological or cultural aspect. Each path, flower garden, buildings must correspond to a certain style. Therefore, the finish of the well should not contradict the general appearance of the site.

    There are many actual design options for the well. It all depends on the design style, for example:

    • Russian. It is a wooden frame, where a manual gate is used as a lifting mechanism. From above it usually has a roof covered with wood shingles. The surface has carved decorations and painting.
    • Medieval. Facing is made of natural stone (cobblestone, granite). Roof supports are made of metal, complemented by forged elements. The roof is in the form of a tent, dome, has a metal coating.
    • Oriental. Combines wood and stone. The highlight is the roof, which has a non-standard look, characteristic of Hindu, Chinese pagodas. For greater effect, a pond or a decorative waterfall is arranged nearby.
    • Modern. It is used mainly for decorative buildings that imitate various structures in a reduced version, for example, a mill, a tower.
    • Nautical. Decorate with ropes that wrap around the outer surface of the base. The handle of the gate is changed to a steering wheel, a bucket - to a barrel. Nearby are rounded fragments of rocks, shells, an anchor.
    • Alpine. A characteristic feature is the absence of racks. The design is due to the fact that the source was used in mountainous conditions. The lower part is faced with stone, and the roof with wood.

    A well built in a country house or near a house is a popular building. However, the concrete ring coming out of the ground has an unfinished look and does not look aesthetically pleasing. In addition, water from open structures is suitable only for irrigation. The situation will be saved by the installation of the house. It protects the mine from various kinds of pollution, ensures safety, especially for small children. There are two types - open and closed. The superstructure can be built with your own hands. For clarity, let's consider a master class, which describes step by step the procedure for building a house with a gable roof:

    • First of all, we prepare the base around the mine. We remove part of the soil to a depth of 20 - 30 cm, fill in a layer of rubble, tamp it down.
    • For round heads we measure the diameter, for square heads - the width. These data will allow you to calculate the dimensions of the manufactured structure.
    • The next step is to make the frame. To do this, it is enough to use a beam with dimensions of 5x10 cm.
    • We cut off two more beams, the length of which is half from the side of the frame. We fix them perpendicularly on two parallel bars of the frame in the middle. At the top we connect with a skate.
    • We proceed to the installation of rafters. To do this, the upper ends of the racks are cut off on both sides at an angle of 45%.
    • On the side of the door, we attach a board with a width of more than 40 cm to the frame, it will serve as the basis for installing the bucket.
    • We mount the finished structure on concrete rings, fixing it with bolts.
    • We install the gate, fasten the door to the frame.
    • We sheathe the protruding part of the mine and the house itself with boards.
    • At the final stage, you can decorate the building.

    How to build a canopy for a well

    These structures are not limited. They can be round or rectangular, have one or more slopes. A canopy is installed directly on the house or in the ground, concrete, brick, and other bases. So, in order to build such an add-on, we will analyze in detail the following step-by-step master class:

    • We are preparing the base. Pillars can be installed on a columnar, tape, monolithic foundation. Since the upper part is light in weight, there are no strict requirements for the base, and two shaped pipes or rounded logs are sufficient for support.
    • After installing the supporting pillars, professional pipes in their upper part, you can put a finished metal roof, build a frame with your own hands. To do this, in the upper part, we attach the boards of the carrier strapping to the vertical posts.
    • We proceed to the collection of the roof truss. It is better to assemble it on the ground, install it ready-made.
    • After installation, we sheathe the farm with OSB board.
    • We cover the roof with metal tiles, corrugated board, and other materials.
    • We sew up the pediments with clapboard, plastic.

    Well finishing: from idea to implementation

    A beautiful well on the site is always pleasing to the eye. Today it has become fashionable to decorate a well with a tree with your own hands, stone decoration, as well as the construction of heads in different styles. I will talk about the simplest and most affordable ways to equip your own source of drinking water.

    Ways to finish wells

    Well device

    Almost any modern well consists of three main elements:

    • Top ring. Here, as a rule, there is a reinforced concrete product with a diameter (D) of 1000 mm and a height (H) of 890 mm, wall thickness (B) of 80 mm. We assume that we have just such a ring;

    • head. These are two beams located opposite each other along the ring diameter line. They hold a canopy and a mechanism for lifting buckets of water. Most often, everything above the ring is called the head. And it can be not just a canopy, but also a house;

    • lifting mechanism. To make it more convenient to extract water from the bottom of the well, the head is equipped with a bucket lifting mechanism. In most cases, this is an ordinary gate, by rotating which you wind the chain and raise the bucket suspended from it.

    A lid is installed on the upper ring to close the shaft. Otherwise, garbage, small animals and even curious children will fall into the water.

    Modern wells are often equipped with pumps. This not only increases the comfort of use, but allows the lid to be opened much less frequently, increasing the hygiene of the facility.

    An asphalt pavement is made around the well ring. It is enough that its width is 100 - 120 cm. The thickness of the concrete is taken on the order of 10 - 15 cm using a road reinforcing mesh.

    For convenience, a bench is dug near the well. On it you can put buckets or other containers in which you will collect water. Here it is important to correctly guess the height in order to pour it as conveniently as possible.

    Over each of the listed parts decorative finishing can be done. As a result, the most nondescript well will turn into a pleasant place not only for water intake, but also for relaxation.

    Ring finish

    The appearance of the concrete ring is not attractive. This part just needs to be changed. For this, the following methods are most often used:

    • Plaster. Suitable as cement plaster for painting or whitewashing, as well as a decorative mixture. This is a quick and easy way to finish;

    • A natural stone. Often the well ring is lined with large pebbles or sandstone. It looks spectacular, but requires certain skills, for a beginner it is not the best option;

    • Tile or artificial stone. A much easier way than in the case of pebbles or sandstone. However, if you have never dealt with tiles, it will also be difficult to beautifully overlay a cylindrical surface;

    • Wood. Many build a structure in the form of a log cabin around a concrete ring. This greatly decorates the appearance of the well, the tree is well suited for decoration.

    It is advisable to immediately decide on the idea of \u200b\u200bfinishing the well. Here you need to take into account the level of your skill, since novice masters should not take on complex methods. I think it's best for a beginner to start with plaster.

    headroom

    Finishing wells in the country or in the private sector is not limited to working on the upper ring. No less important is the head - the part that is above.

    Of course, I understand that not every professional can do this with their own hands. These photos are for example, inspiration. We will consider much simpler and more practical ways to finish the head.

    You can go two ways:

    1. Make an open head in the form of a gable canopy on two beams, which will be dug in and additionally screwed to the ring with anchors;

    1. Make a structure in the form of a house over a well with a closing door. The house can be sheathed with wood or, if in the country, with plastic. This is more practical, as the tree deteriorates faster.

    Making a "house" is much easier. It does not look as impressive, but it is more practical, since access to the well cover is limited. The price of the material will also be lower.

    To make the head last longer, it is better to build a frame for a house from a steel square pipe coated with anti-corrosion paint. The gate can be made from a log or a round pipe of the same diameter, closed on the sides with plugs. In the plugs, holes are made in the center, into which the axis of the gate with a handle is threaded.

    It should be borne in mind that wells are characterized by high humidity and constant contact with water. Therefore, all parts should be treated with anti-corrosion coatings and impregnations as responsibly as possible.

    Stages of well finishing

    To bring the above to a more harmonious system, consider the simplest way to arrange a water source. All stages are tested in practice repeatedly, so you will be satisfied with the result.

    1. We carry out measurements of the ring: outer diameter, wall thickness, height above ground level. According to the obtained dimensions, we assemble a frame of four boards, which we put on the ring. We drill holes in the boards, through them we pass the ring itself and fix the frame on the ring with an anchor and nuts;

    1. The frame set to the level is sewn up with a board. In the middle we leave a hole for the passage of the bucket, which is best equipped with a valve or doors;

    1. According to the drawing, we assemble the frame for the house. It is better that it be steel or aluminum.

    1. We fix the frame to the site, insert the gate.

    1. We sheathe our frame with corrugated board, plastic or wood. Profiled sheet is the best solution.

    1. Making rings. The solution is applied with a spatula. If the ring is old and beaten - on a fiberglass mesh, which is pre-attached with dowels.

    1. When the plaster is completely dry, prime it. After the primer dries, apply 2 coats of acrylic paint for outdoor use.

    1. At the end we make a blind area. To do this, we dig out the earth within a radius of 120 cm around the ring to a depth of 10 - 15 cm, cover it with polyethylene, put a metal mesh and concrete.

    Before starting work, it is advisable to pump out water from the well and clean its bottom. For this, a person is lowered on a climbing rope in a special rubber suit, dirt is removed with buckets, and then the climber is lifted up.

    Conclusion

    The interior of any site consists of trifles, and a well is far from a trifle. Now you know how to improve your well and how to do it efficiently. Watch the video in this article and don't forget to improve your drinking water source.

    For those who like to relax outside the city and have their own dacha, information regarding the independent creation and design of a decorative well will be useful.

    A few decades ago, such structures could be found in almost every yard, and today they are becoming a stylish decor element in the design of a summer cottage, provided that they are harmoniously integrated into the existing landscape.

    Before you start creating a decorative well, you need to decide on its purpose, choose the best place, prepare a plan and buy all the necessary supplies.

    Functions of a well structure

    The construction and design of decorative wells in a summer cottage does not imply the creation of a water source for the owners, although previously such objects served mainly a practical purpose.

    Today, decorative wells play mainly an aesthetic role, they are an integral element of landscape decor. But among summer residents there are many who believe that the well should be used not only for decorative, but also for practical purposes.

    Such an object can be endowed with useful functions:

    • the upper part of the well can mask communications;
    • ensure that barrels filled with rainwater are protected from contamination;
    • thanks to this element, you can hide the source of drinking water from sight.

    Wells decorated with carvings look very impressive. Antique-style objects that can advantageously transform the most unremarkable site are very popular. With the right approach, a well can easily be turned into a stylish component of landscape design.

    The main purpose of a decorative well is to perform an aesthetic function. How to improve the well in the country? With the proper design of such a structure and its surrounding elements (a small artificial reservoir, a cart, a rock garden, flower vases, a low wooden fence or a fence, garden paths), you can create an exclusive design. Your garden will be the subject of admiration for everyone who comes to visit you at the cottage.

    Mini-wells look very impressive, decorated with colorful flowers. Ornamental plants are the easiest way to decorate such an object.

    Types of structures

    Companies selling construction products offer to buy ready-made decorative wells, but such designs are usually not cheap, and they do not look very original.

    A landscape designer can give professional advice on how to choose these objects wisely and how to decorate them in harmony with the look of the garden area, but this task can be handled on your own, and this is not only about choosing a well, but also about building.

    Decorative wells differ in design features - there are several different options. We list the most popular:

    • towers with a gable roof;
    • crane wells that do not have a visor;
    • a column located above the ground (objects with such a design are called Abyssinian).

    Under decorative wells most often means structures resembling houses.

    The decor of the well in the summer cottage should be in harmony with the style direction in which the plot is designed, and the architectural style of the country house.

    Lighting will help to give a decorative well a luxurious look. Such an object will look especially advantageous at night. An illuminated well is a great opportunity to create additional lighting that makes it easier to navigate and move around the site.

    The presence of a decorative well in the country makes it possible to turn an ordinary plot into a magnificent estate. Such an object fits perfectly into the country style direction - just build a well on the backyard territory, similar to a teremok with unusual carved details.

    Against the backdrop of a rural landscape, such a structure looks very organic.

    For areas with an oriental-style landscape, a small well with a tiled roof with corners bent up will be an excellent solution.

    In modern design (modern, minimalist style), wells are appropriate, the designs of which are in harmony with other objects available on the territory (household, utility block, bathhouse - all buildings must be created from identical materials using a single technique).

    The subtleties of the choice of materials

    For the construction of decorative wells, various building materials are used. The material of manufacture largely determines the appearance of the well construction.

    The easiest way is to create a wooden well in the country house that performs a decorative purpose. Wood is an affordable material, its advantages include durability and environmental safety.

    Important! A well made of wood can organically fit into any landscape, make it a harmonious component of the design composition.

    For the construction of wells, both boards and logs, timber and even branches are used.

    Wells with flowerpots installed from the inside look very unusual. Such wells can be used as an original alternative to conventional flower beds. After all, you won’t surprise anyone with simple flower beds, so every summer resident tries to come up with something special.

    Stone structures are more suitable for individual homestead territories. The basis for such buildings can be a concrete ring, which is an integral element of a real water source. Coloring the ring in a motley color will allow you to get a presentable design.

    The base can be finished with artificial stone, pebbles or brickwork. Such decor will remind you of the Middle Ages, because several centuries ago stone wells were the main sources of water in the castle grounds.

    A decorative well can be a highlight in the design of your site: take the time and effort to build such an object.

    Metal sheets can be used to decorate individual components of the well, for example, the roof. To create a roof, any material is suitable: the roof can be wooden, thatched or tiled.

    Important! Please note that roofing materials must be resistant to the aggressive effects of natural factors.

    In some cases, old accessories, tools (watering can, shovel, rake, etc.) and other unnecessary things can be used to decorate a village well or well. The base for such a structure can be made from several car tires stacked on top of each other or a large barrel, and for a decorative hatch, take a colored plastic circle, use a decorative stone on a well hatch, or cut a manhole cover from plywood.

    A roof and small details (chain, handle, bucket) are attached to the original base. Don't forget to decorate your well.

    A well from an old barrel will perfectly hide a functioning well with water from prying eyes, organically fit into the rural landscape, but the building, complemented by a fountain, looks especially beautiful.

    The design of the well in the country and its decoration depend on your imagination: some are limited to decorative elements made of wood, others use ornamental plants, and still others decorate the object with stencil drawings and decorate it in bright colors. A great idea is to place garden figurines and miniature sculptures next to the well.

    A decorative well can become a key element in the design of a backyard area.

    On a note! If you want to turn your site into a kind of estate owned by aristocrats, complement the landscape decor with a well decorated with carvings. Such a building always looks luxurious and cute.

    Before starting construction, we advise you to make a sketch of the future well, reflecting your wishes regarding the design and design features. With the right approach, building a decorative well will not take much time. Step-by-step instructions will allow you to equip a beautiful and original well structure on your site in a short time.

    At the final stage, the well is supplemented with traditional paraphernalia: a bucket on a chain, a log gate, a handle. The listed parts do not have a functional load and are not used for their intended purpose: they perform an exclusively decorative function - they decorate the well.

    Read about how and what kind you can build: wood, metal, corrugated board - design and decoration options with examples in the photo.

    You can see photos of forged benches and benches for decorating a summer cottage or garden area.

    To make the well structure look attractive and organically fit into the country decor, you need to take care of its decoration and decorate it. In a well, for example, you can make a flower bed by planting loach plants or flowers creeping along the ground in it, attach a wheel to the side so that the structure looks in an old fashion. Thanks to this decoration, the well will become an organic component of a presentable landscape design.
