To make the interior exclusive, to visually enlarge a room or expand a narrow room, fill it with light, hide small flaws in the finish - all this is within the power of mirror tiles. It can be used in the interior of any premises. Here are the classics - a bathroom, and an acceptable kitchen with an entrance hall, and even a more exotic living room and bedroom.

Due to the variety of shapes, sizes and colors, the right finishing material can be selected for any room and solve a specific problem. Mirror tiles in the interior with and without facet look completely different. Mosaic also gives its charm and feature to the finished surface.

The floor, walls, ceiling, and other horizontal and vertical surfaces can be decorated with mirror tiles. It all depends on the specific design project, as well as the selected material. For the floor, especially durable tiles with mirror coating are used, for walls and ceilings, mirror plates can be used, which are based on ordinary mirrors.

In any room, mirror tiles turn into an illusionist designer's tool.

Properly choosing the size of the tiles, the installation method, as well as the surrounding finishing materials and additional decor, you can achieve a visual increase in space.

To do this, mirror tiles in the interior can decorate any surface.

  • A narrow room can be made visually wider if two opposite long walls are laid out with mirror tiles. If one or both ends of such a room are tiled, it will turn into an even longer and narrower one;
  • The use of mirror tiles of different sizes - a large or elongated wall at the bottom and decreasing towards the ceiling will visually increase the height of the walls, move the ceiling away;
  • Mirror tiles on the ceiling as well as on the floor will help visually increase the volume of the room;
  • In a small room with a low level of natural light, you can lay out a small area above the chandelier with mirror tiles. The light from the lamps will be reflected from the mirror surface, multiply and make the room twice as bright;
  • A wall paved with mirror tiles and placed opposite the window will fill the room with natural light. Such a solution is very relevant for rooms whose windows face low-sunshine sides: north and east;
  • An interesting perspective effect can be created by a mirror tile if it is lined with a corner in the room and part of the walls;
  • Diagonal laying of mirror tiles in combination with tiles made of traditional materials visually expands the boundaries of the room.

Also, different effects of the perception of space can be achieved by working with mirror tiles of different sizes. In a small room, laying very large tiles, the space will shrink even more. In this case, it would be more appropriate to use medium-sized tiles or mosaics.

Mirror tiles in the interior of different rooms

There are many ways to lay mirror tiles, as well as finish options. This can be a blind laying of tiles of the same size, the creation of a continuous mirror space, work with bevelled material that will transform the appearance of the room beyond recognition. And each of the techniques will be appropriate to use in a specific room.

Mirror tiles in the bathroom

The most common room where mirror tiles are used. She gets off both wall fragments and entire surfaces. Due to the fact that standard bathrooms are very cramped spaces where there are no sources of natural light, mirror tiles in decoration are more common than ever.

Mirror mosaic is used for wall decoration. It can be a large area in the room, or just an accent area in the area of \u200b\u200bthe location of the bath or shower. Large squares laid out diagonally decorate wall surfaces and the area above the sink. Such a tile may well replace a traditional mirror. Decorated with facet, such a surface will fill a small room with interesting highlights and colors.

Kitchen decorated with mirror tiles

In the kitchen, mirror tiles are used to create modern interiors. Non-primary surfaces are finished off with it: it can be a work apron, an accent wall. Mirror tiles of various sizes can highlight the dining area in the kitchen if they are combined.

Using fully mirrored walls in the kitchen is very impractical. They will require daily meticulous care to stay in pristine condition. You can fragmentarily use mirror tiles in the interior of the kitchen in places that are poorly lit. You can also fill the room with light by laying out a mirrored wall opposite the window.

Hallway with mirror tiles

You can hide the imperfections of the hallway and corridor by laying mirror tiles. These are often dark, elongated rooms of a very impractical shape. Two long walls lined with mirror tiles will visually expand the space. If you lay out wall fragments with mirror tiles where lamps or sconces will be located, this will make the room brighter.

It is in the hallway that a mirrored ceiling is often made. This again visually increases the volume of the room, makes it brighter. In addition, this solution looks very bright and unusual. Mirror tiles are very well combined with ordinary mirrors. For example, a mandatory hallway accessory - a mirror, can be framed with mirror tiles, due to which it will seem larger and more interesting.

Mirror tiles in the interior of the living room

Here tiles can be used in the most unexpected places. In addition to standard walls and ceilings, tiles can be used to decorate niches and arches, which are often present in the living room interior. Mirror tiles, especially mosaics, can decorate columns, they will look unusual and airy.

Mirror tiles can be used to decorate pieces of furniture. Replace the deaf mirror facade of the wardrobe with an interesting beveled mosaic. Or decorate the top of a coffee table. It is in the living room that mirror tiles are most often used to create paintings and panels. The contours of various objects on the walls are made up of it, or a real mosaic picture is laid out.

Bedroom decorated with mirror tiles

The most romantic and comfortable room in the house. Here, mirror tiles are appropriate to use to create a mysterious and intimate atmosphere. It is the facet that will make ordinary light refract and play according to your rules.

The most place for mirror tiles in the bedroom is on the wall at the head of the bed. Interiors with a mirrored ceiling look good. You can use mirror tiles to decorate fragments, lay out areas near lamps and chandeliers with it. If there is a dressing table or dressing table in the bedroom, this area can also be highlighted with mirror tiles.

Mirror tiles today are produced in various tones. It can be a classic mirror, or it can be with a bronze, silver or copper coating. Different textures also allow you to create interesting design solutions. Mirror tiles are not necessarily the classic reflective surface of a mirror. It may well be a matte, slightly glare wall, capable of duplicating only the vague outlines of objects. But in any case, the room, decorated with this finishing material, looks stylish and modern.

With the help of mirror surfaces, you can change and decorate the space of living rooms, achieve sufficiently large lighting of the room. The mirror is a unique, but fragile product. It cannot be applied everywhere. Therefore, mirror tiles come to the rescue, which are more functional and not as fastidious as a mirror. In this article we will try to understand in more detail the features of the tile.

Depending on the design idea, you can decorate the premises using mirror surfaces of different types or several at the same time. There are such types:

  • mirror glass tiles;
  • mirror polystyrene tiles. This is a typical polystyrene tile, its surface is covered with paint, the structure of which includes the smallest grains of steel;
  • mirror tiles are self-adhesive. When installing this type of tile, it turns out that this option is simpler than others. It consists of 2 bases: the upper one is mirror, and the inner one is able to stick to any surface. To glue the tiles, it is necessary that the surface is perfectly even. Then the film is removed from the inside and glued to the base. The material is glued with high quality, which frees from additional finishing work. However, this is a relatively expensive material compared to glass tiles.

Pros and cons of mirror tiles

  • sufficiently durable material;
  • universal;
  • a variety of colors of gold, silver, bronze or chrome;
  • tiles are smooth, embossed, with a variety of inserts (square, with stripes or lines);
  • for a wider profile, holographic patterns are applied;
  • a flexible structure is also inherent in this type, which improves working with it in curvilinear structures (niches, columns);
  • resistance to fire;
  • endurance in relation to chemical acids or alkalis;
  • resistance to corrosion and moisture;
  • visual increase in space;
  • material safety (ceramics).

  • rather fragile material that needs careful care;
  • the ability of the product to darken. However, if you install high-quality ventilation in the room and insulate the seams, this can be avoided;
  • the price of the product is quite high compared to similar materials;
  • reflection of rather poor quality.

Technical objective assessment of mirror tiles

  • Due to the high ability to reflect light, mirror tiles can be placed even in a dimly lit part of the house. The main thing is to correctly position the lamps and it doesn’t matter in what quantities they are used;
  • excellent moisture-repellent properties make it possible to install tiles in the most non-ideal conditions. And resistance to chemicals gives complete freedom to use household detergents;
  • Another important detail is that copper and lead are not included in the composition of the top layer of the tile. These chemical elements are used to form a protective layer in household mirrors.

Installation methods

  • Installation of mirror tiles is best done on the ceiling or wall. There is another popular way to install tiles - this is to connect it with ceramics. Of course, an inexperienced person will not be able to immediately mount mirror panels or mosaics. Unlike tiles, which are mounted on a rough surface, mirror tiles have a smooth texture.
  • The tiles must be laid on a perfectly flat surface, which will be without flaws. An uneven surface will appear on the product and make the image skewed. The surface should be prepared in exactly the same way as in other cases with cladding.
  • After preparing the base, the tile must be laid out as it was planned to be installed. Tiles of the wrong sizes can get into one batch (usually the discrepancy can be about 3 mm), so it’s better not to rush with installation, and measure everything before starting work. It is better not to cut the edge in products so as not to spoil the appearance of the tile, because it is processed in a special way.
  • In cases where you still need to fit the product in size, a glass cutter comes to the rescue. But you need to work with it carefully so as not to damage the material.
  • Laying is done horizontally. In order for the pattern to be preserved throughout the work, it is necessary to leave joints no more than 4 mm.
  • On the reverse side of the mirror tile, the adhesive is applied with a spatula. They outline the boundaries of the work, applying decorative elements over and over again. The work is helped by a plastic cross, which corresponds to the width of the seam. Wide seams are not recommended.
  • Upon completion, the tile is polished with a soft cloth. When installing, it is important to measure each row using the building level.

Not so long ago, mirror faceted tiles appeared on the construction market of finishing materials, but in a short period of time it has already managed to win the attention of true lovers of beautiful interior design.

Creative interior designers, renovation professionals and home craftsmen immediately noticed this material and appreciated its advantages. A beveled tile with a reflective surface is a very beautiful decorative element that can add zest to any room where it will be chosen as a finishing material. With its help, you can translate into reality the most interesting and beautiful design solutions in the design of the room.

What is a faceted mirror panel?

Mirror tiles with facet - this is part of the coating with a reflective surface, which has a certain size and various shapes. Its edges are specially processed by removing the chamfer from the beveled edge of the mirror surface. With the help of such processing, the reflective surface of the tile acquires a more unusual and beautiful appearance, which contributes to the disclosure of new design solutions in the use of panels from reflective surfaces.

Faceted tiles are a very beautiful element of decor, if sun glare falls on its surface, the beveled edge of the product sparkles with all shades of the rainbow, which looks stylish and expensive. Panels with wide facets reach the maximum peak of the beauty of such a finishing material, they have only thin beveled edges, which harmoniously fits the tile into any interior and makes it elegant.

Tiles are made not just by cutting mirror surfaces, but also using silencing technology. Silencers are introduced using crystalline, gaseous or amorphous chemical compounds. This manufacturing technology of the product allows you to achieve maximum transparency of the mirror coating.

At first glance, it may seem that the material is rather fragile, but this opinion is erroneous, it is quite difficult to deform mirror tiles with facet.

Advantages and disadvantages

Compared to other finishing materials, Mirror tiles have a number of advantages, such as:

If you want to see an unusual panel of mirror tiles with facet in the interior, this effect can be achieved using a certain technique for laying this facing material with a mirror surface.

This type of tile will give you the opportunity to make the interior inimitable and unique, in addition, thanks to mirrors, you can achieve the visual effect of expanding the room.

Despite the many advantages, the material also has disadvantages.. These include:

  • The high cost of the material (due to the fact that expensive components and modern technologies are used to make such tiles).
  • Mirror tiles must be handled and installed with care to avoid the risk of scratching the reflective surface and to avoid breaking them.
  • Over time, the mirror tile darkens. To minimize the risk of such a process, it is necessary to make a high-quality and efficient ventilation system.

Terms of Use

The main rule for using mirror tiles with facet is the placement of elements at different levels. If you do not heed this recommendation, the room will not look harmonious, since the mirror tiles of one wall will be reflected in another. A tile with a reflective surface with facets is a high-quality and reliable facing material., which is able to bring novelty and elegance to your interior, no matter what style it is made in.

Varieties

Bevelled mirror tiles come in a variety of sizes and shapes, with square tiles being the most sought after. It is the simplest in the process of laying, and is easily combined with other finishing materials.

If you want to add some variety to your space, lay the tiles in a diamond shape, diagonally. A little less popular is the mirrored parts of a rectangular shape, it is laid according to the principle of laying bricks or as a prototype of a chessboard.

Apart from these 2 forms there are also such forms of mirror panels as:

  • Trapeze.
  • Triangle.
  • Oval.
  • A circle.
  • Irregular polygon.

Dimensions

To date in specialized hardware stores you can buy mirror tiles with bevels of any size. The most popular panel sizes are:

  • 15 by 15 cm;
  • 20 by 20 cm;
  • 25 by 25 cm;
  • 30 by 30 cm.

This cladding material is very easy to install and use, and goes well with any other materials used in the interior.

In addition to large size mirror panels there is also a small mirror mosaic, which deserves special attention in our article. Small mirror elements of a square shape with beveled edges, which literally glow with iridescent tints when hit by the sun's rays. Such a mosaic will be an excellent additional element of decor for any room.

Basically, when laying it, it is combined with tiles of a standard size. Also, with its help, you can beautifully arrange individual zones around the perimeter of mirrors or lighting fixtures.

materials

Mirror faceted tiles can be made of the following materials:

Colors

The most popular and common option is a colorless mirror tile. It is universal and will harmoniously fit into any interior.

Also, you can choose the tiles according to the color scheme prevailing in your room, to order, you can make a mirror surface with a facet of various colors.

There are more expensive and chic options for lovers of interior design with taste. In specialized hardware stores, you can find faceted mirror tiles, the surface of which will imitate marble stone, or tiles in the color of gold, silver or bronze.

How to make the right choice?

If you decide to buy a mirror tile with facet, when choosing a material, pay attention to the following criteria:

Faceted panels in the interior: photos of design solutions

Use cases

When decorating the ceiling with mirror tiles with facet, you can visually increase the height of the room. Together with this effect, in parallel, a room visually turned upside down is obtained, especially if the entire ceiling area is decorated with mirror plates. Be sure to pay attention to what will be reflected in the mirror surface ceiling, in this case there are special requirements for the floor, because you need the reflection to decorate the interior, and not spoil it.

When using faceted mirror elements in large rooms with high ceilings, you run the risk of filling your interior not with beauty, but with emptiness, due to the visual expansion of an already large room.

Hallway and bathroom decoration

Recently, it has become popular to use faceted mirror tiles as a decor element in the hallway. A panel with a reflective mirror surface is installed on one wall so that a person can see himself there in full growth. If your entryway is too narrow and long, you can visually correct this by decorating the side walls with reflective elements. Also it would be advisable to arrange walk-through zones with mirror tiles which are often poorly lit.

In the bathroom, with the help of mirror elements, you can transform any surface. A big plus in this case is the resistance of the reflective surface to temperature changes and the level of humidity in the room. With the help of a mirror facing material, you can visually enlarge the bathroom and add more light to it.

Mirror facet tiles in most cases are installed on the wall near the bathroom or above the sink. If your bathroom has a “screen”, decorating it with a small square-shaped mirror mosaic will be a very stylish solution. It does not undergo severe deformation, so it can please your eye for a long time with its original appearance.

Kitchen decoration

With the use of mirror tiles in decorating the kitchen, it will acquire a certain charm, high cost and elegance. Most of all, this decor is suitable for interiors in such styles as:

  • classic;
  • baroque;
  • empire

Glare and the play of light rays reflected in the mirror tiles will definitely cheer you up and will delight you for many years.

Despite the effect that reflective surfaces give, it is very important not to overdo it with the number of mirrors in one room.

Also, in order to avoid negative gloom and “congestion” of the interior, It is not recommended to mount mirror panels opposite each other.

Another option for decorating a kitchen with mirror tiles is decorating a kitchen apron. Such a design decision is definitely very beautiful, but not at all practical. The mirror kitchen apron will constantly be splashed with water, grease, and other contaminants, respectively, it will need to be constantly cleaned.

Bedrooms and living room

Many modern interior designers use bevelled mirror tiles to decorate the living room, with the help of this facing material, it is possible to divide the room into separate zones without much effort.

The ideal option would be to combine mirror decor with different levels of ceilings.

Unlike other rooms, where for a number of reasons it is not recommended to make a mirrored ceiling, the living room is exactly the room where you can and even need to make reflective decor on the ceiling, for example, in the area around the chandelier mount. Due to this arrangement of mirror tiles, the light of the bulbs will always be reflected and reflected from them, which, in turn, will make the room brighter and more illuminated.

A little advice in interior design using mirror surfaces: when decorating the interior of the bedroom, mirror tiles are not recommended to be placed opposite the bed and on the ceiling. This will create some discomfort and a feeling of awkwardness. In the bedroom, it is better to place a mirror panel at the head of the bed or create two inserts above the bedside tables.

The use of mirrors as interior decoration is not a novelty for a long time. However, thanks to modern technologies, the mirror has become not just an ornament, but also an independent finishing material. To give the interior a special expressiveness and solve many decorative problems, designers are increasingly using mirror tiles. And if earlier this type of decor prevailed in bathrooms, today it is widely used in all rooms, even in the bedroom. See in today's selection of "Dream House" decor ideas with mirror tiles.

What is the peculiarity of mirror tiles as a decorative material

The main feature of mirror tiles over any other finishing material is its decorative value. The mirror surface allows you to visually expand the space and make the room brighter.

Many believe that because of the fragility of the mirror, the tile wears out quickly and does not have all the necessary properties. However, modern high-quality mirror tiles are manufactured strictly in accordance with GOST, respectively, their strength is in no way inferior to the strength of ceramic tiles. In addition, it has very good resistance to temperature extremes, humidity and chemical attack. And, best of all, mirror tiles are much less likely to get scratches than any other material.

In addition to the standard tiles with a mirror surface, mirror tiles with facet are especially popular. The peculiarity of this product lies in the fact that during manufacture, a chamfer is removed from the beveled side of the mirror, as a result of which the tile seems especially thin and elegant. Facetted tiles can be laid out on the surface of walls or ceilings, as a solid mirror sheet, or used in conjunction with other materials.

Tiles of this type have only one drawback - the complexity of laying. It is best if the installation of mirror tiles is carried out by professionals, because. first it must be properly cut and ideally prepare the surface. During application, care must be taken to ensure that the seams between the tiles are as narrow as possible, since with wide seams it is impossible to achieve an even and solid surface. In addition, after application, the tile remains to dry for 3-4 days, after which the joints are grouted.

Mirror tiles in the interior

The use of mirror tiles in the interior

Traditionally, tiles with a mirror surface are most often used in the interior of the bathroom or in the kitchen, but they look no less attractive in the interior of the bedroom or living room.

This finishing material allows you to realize any decorative delights. Having decorated the walls of any room with mirror tiles, you will immediately expand its area, make the interior lighter and more elegant. However, the mirror is a rather specific material, and its use in the interior must be subject to strict rules. For example, if you want to maximize the space, decorate a mirror wall or a panel of mirror tiles in front of the window. At the same time, the mirror surface should not be exposed to direct sunlight, so it is better to mount the mirror tiles just above the window level.

No matter how strange it may sound, in some cases the mirror surface does not expand the space, but rather narrows it. A similar effect will occur if you mount the tiles not with a single canvas, but with crushed inserts, combining them with other materials. It will look very impressive if you use mirror tiles in a similar way in the interior of a large living room, but if the room is not spacious, it is better to use a solid mirror sheet to expand it.

Mirror tiles on the wall

If the design of the mirror tiles in the interior of the living rooms is incorrect, the effect of “through the looking glass” may occur when one wall is displayed in another. This effect is not very comfortable psychologically, so it is recommended to arrange the tiles at different levels, so that they do not appear in each other.

If you want to make the room look taller, mirrored ceiling tiles will do the job best. In this case, a smooth mirror surface without seams will look especially advantageous. It is also very good to add height to the dot design with mirrored inserts of the center of the ceiling. In addition, to visually increase the height of the room, it is not at all necessary to decorate the ceiling with this material. A similar visual effect will occur if you use tiles to decorate only the lower part of the room.

Bathroom mirror tiles should be selected taking into account the characteristics of this room. In a small and poorly lit bathroom, it can safely decorate the entire surface of the walls and ceiling. If the tile is used primarily for decorative purposes, you can experiment with patterns and combinations of tiles in different color shades. For example, the mirror surface is very advantageously combined with ceramic tiles in black, silver or white. However, when combining mirror and ceramic tiles, it is recommended to use products of the same size.

Mirror tiles in the interior of the living room

When decorating any room with mirror tiles, keep in mind that all its decorative value can only be manifested in combination with the right lighting. Particularly advantageous is the beauty of the interior with mirror surfaces emphasized by spotlights with soft and diffused light.

Mirror tiles are the perfect tool for bringing the most unusual decorative ideas to life. If desired, it can be used not only to decorate walls or ceilings, but also to decorate furniture, ledges or openings. The main thing is that the mirror surface is in harmony with the overall interior design.

The appearance of decorative mirror tiles on the building materials market has greatly facilitated the implementation of the most daring and interesting design decisions. Such a coating is lightweight and suitable for creating an original and functional cladding on any basis.

Classification of mirror tiles

Depending on the material used in the production process, decorative elements are of the following types:

  • glass - are made by melting a mass of glass with silencers and gaseous crystalline compositions;
  • metal - the polishing method is used in production;
  • plastic - panels are made of polyvinyl chloride or polystyrene by gluing a reflective film or applying paint with the smallest particles of steel.

Decorative tiles made on the basis of PVC or metal, is an imitation of a mirror cladding, is light in weight, low in cost, has flexibility, but the reflectivity of the coating is worse than that of glass products.

Glass tiles are classified:

  • by appointment: wall, floor, ceiling and universal;
  • in shape: square, rectangular, mosaic (in separate chips or modules), in the form of stripes, rhombus, triangle, circle and semicircle, hexagon;
  • according to the color scheme: the front side of the cladding can be bronze, gold, silver, blue, pink, green. In addition, the tile can be plain or with an ornament or pattern applied to it using thermal printing or sandblasting;
  • surfaces differ in the processing method: polished, glossy or matte;
  • according to the method of processing edges: with facet or without chamfer.

The installation of mirror cladding is identical to the process of laying ceramic tiles, but there are products that do not require the use of adhesives. Such a tile has a thickness of 4-6 mm, consists of an external (reflective) surface and an internal (adhesive) layer, covered with a protective film, which must be removed before use.

Advantages and disadvantages

The advantages of the products include:

  • moisture resistance, which allows the use of lining in rooms with a high level of humidity;
  • long service life, subject to the laying technology and care rules;
  • fire safety (glass and metal products are not subject to combustion) and environmental friendliness;
  • resistance to aggressive chemicals, easy maintenance.

Flaws:

  • the material is subject to darkening, which can be prevented by organizing ventilation in the room or regularly ventilating the room;
  • facing elements are fragile, chips can form on the edges during transportation and installation.

When cleaning a mirror surface, regardless of the material of its manufacture, the use of abrasive detergents is unacceptable.

How to glue mirror tiles?

The main condition for the quality of work is the evenness of the base.

Foundation preparation

  • remove old wallpaper, tiles, glue residue, plaster. Inspect the base: if there are minor defects, level the surface with plaster. In case of large height differences, fix drywall sheets on the walls, check the evenness of the surface with a level and a plumb line;
  • apply primer mixture. When repairing a room or kitchen, use a moisture-resistant compound;
  • draw vertical marking lines: it is desirable to place a solid element near the ceiling;
  • mark the horizontal along the perimeter of the walls, taking into account the seams. Check the markup with a level;
  • if glass tiles will be used during the installation, install the support rail under the start line of the first row and start work from this mark.

The dimensions of the products may vary, therefore, before laying, lay the tiles on a horizontal surface in the desired pattern.

Preparation of the adhesive mixture

Adhesives containing additives in the form of acidic oxides are not suitable for mirror cladding.

Glass products are fixed on the walls using a special tile adhesive designed for mounting mirrors, or other chemically neutral mixtures based on epoxy resins, silicone sealant, liquid nails:

  • Moment Installation - moisture-resistant composition containing synthetic resins, suitable for fixing mirror tiles indoors, has good adhesion and resistance to vertical shifts, is elastic;
  • Titan Professional - adhesive based on synthetic rubber and resins, suitable for work on horizontal and vertical surfaces, moisture resistant;
  • when installing with liquid nails, make an additional fixation before installing the tiles using double adhesive tape glued to the back.

The use of cement-based compounds and universal sealants is unacceptable.

Laying tiles

  • start work from the farthest corner of the room (when facing the entire surface of the wall), laying out rows from floor to ceiling;
  • apply the adhesive in a small layer with a notched trowel on the reverse surface of the cladding, wait a while (2-3 minutes) and carefully place the tile on the base, lightly press it with your hand;
  • perform the installation of the remaining products, inserting separating crosses into the gaps between adjacent elements;
  • after laying several rows, remove excess glue with a sponge or damp cloth;
  • cut products with a diamond glass cutter with oil, be careful in the process: first draw a line on the surface, then draw a tool along it, leaving a mark-scratch, then cut the material with strong pressure;
  • a day after the end of the work, grout the joints with a rubber spatula: use the composition used for installation for this purpose, you can also use a neutral silicone sealant (gray or transparent);
  • after 5-6 hours, wash the finished coating.

When installing in rooms with high humidity, it is necessary to leave a compensation gap between the tiles of at least 1.5-2 mm.

Using mirror tiles

Bathroom finishing

In most cases, there are no windows in the bathrooms, which requires the presence of light sources while being in the room. You can visually increase the dimensions and improve the illumination of the room by using mirror cladding in the interior.

Decorative products must be designed for use in conditions of high humidity, otherwise the coating will fade or begin to blacken.

The ceiling of the bathroom, lined with mirror tiles, will visually increase the space. A coating will look beautiful, combining the design of its central part with a glossy cladding and placing tiles decorated with ornaments around the perimeter.

Reflective elements are suitable for finishing the bath screen, regardless of the opening mechanism.

If the dimensions of the room are large, you can additionally decorate pieces of furniture with tiles (doors of cabinets and a shower cabin).

Separate fragments of the cladding, if desired, are decorated by applying drawings with acrylic or stained glass paints.

Kitchen finishing

The reflective coating can not only visually change the size of the room, but also its shape, which is especially true for oblong kitchens. It is desirable that there is a window opposite the cladding - this will fill the room with light.

A beautiful design solution would be to decorate the wall with a combined coating of mirror and ceramic tiles of the same format.

The production of furniture facades is also possible using glass reflective surfaces.

A kitchen apron made of skinali (long panels in the form of stripes, rhombuses, squares) creates a decorative bridge between the wall surfaces; the same technique is suitable if it is necessary to make a transition from one type of material (or color) to another.

Choose cladding elements that have moisture resistant properties.

Living room decoration

Small rooms are decorated with mirrored cabinet doors - this deprives the furniture of monumentality, heaviness and the room does not seem cluttered.

On a section of the wall, small elements are laid out in the form of an interesting pattern or a medallion, additionally decorated with molding.

The surface above the sofa or armchairs, near the fireplace can also be decorated with mirrors.

A diamond-shaped wallpaper pattern or similar parquet flooring will go well with a wall tiled with tiles of the same shape.

If there are arches, niches or columns in the living room, a small mirror mosaic will give them airiness and originality.

public spaces

Decorative cladding of this type also looks harmonious in offices, but its placement in public premises should be fragmentary, for example, cladding the center of the ceiling and decorating a small panel on the wall.

The tile is suitable for decorating ceilings, columns of shopping malls, hotels and restaurants.

walk-through zones

The mirror cladding of the entire surface of the wall and niches will expand the space of the corridor or hall.

You can “increase” the height of the room by laying decorative elements on the ceiling.

Decorating furniture with tiles is appropriate not only in the bathroom or kitchen, but in the hallway it is also functional and beautiful.

You can diversify the boring interior of the passage area by placing a mirror lining on the wall with a pattern on the surface (or a picture)

Features of working with ceiling tiles

  • before laying on a wooden surface, be sure to treat the base with an antiseptic composition and a primer;
  • it is easier and more convenient to fix the cladding on a plasterboard frame: leveling the ceiling with putty will lead to an increase in the cost of work and high labor costs;
  • installation is carried out in two ways: on screws or gluing. When laying on drywall, the adhesive must be applied around the perimeter and in the center of the tile. Fixing with screws requires complex drilling of elements, which is associated with the risk of damage to the material.

Interior with mirror tiles

The ability to visually expand the dimensions is relevant for placing an elongated shape: the location of the tiles on a long wall will correct such a disproportion.

You can achieve a simultaneous visual increase in the width and height of the room if you lay the elements on the same wall diagonally or in rhombuses.

Facing the entire surface of the ceiling of a large room with tiles creates a feeling of emptiness and coldness, in such cases it is advisable to do the laying only in the center or perimeter with the arrangement of spot lighting.

The desire to make an apartment or house cozy and bright is easy to translate into reality with the help of mirror tiles. Refrain from covering too large areas: reflective elements can irritate the psyche, cause anxiety, therefore, in an effort to create an original design, follow the measure and do not abuse the number of reflective surfaces.

Examples in the interior
