Installation of a single-leaf door on rollers

When installing this door with the method of moving along the wall, one of the main conditions is the most accurate coincidence of the planes (no distortion) of the walls at this opening and a flat floor along the entire length of the door movement. You can fix the upper guide profile using the brackets-corners provided by the manufacturer, or on a bar, which must be even and well dried. The length of the bar and profile is calculated according to the following formula: 2 × A-10cm, where A is the width of the canvas. Having attached the canvas to the wall in turn in two extreme positions (the door is open / closed), we apply markings on the upper end (basic reference points). With differences, we make a report from the extreme upper positions of the points. The position of the upper edge of the guide profile is obtained as follows: clearance under the door (5-10 mm) + average distance from the upper end of the door to the upper edge of the guide profile (may vary depending on the manufacturer). We measure the resulting amount from the base markup upwards and attach the bar with the lower edge to the measured points tightly to the wall. If the wall is curved, suitable spacers of dense material can be placed to maintain the evenness of the bar. It is desirable to use a bar with a thickness of 10-15 mm more than the thickness of the canvas for the subsequent convenience of decorative design. With small bends of the wall, the bar can be tightly screwed to the wall without gaskets, the main thing is that the aluminum profile attached to it retains its straightness. The middle of the bar should be above the corresponding corner of the doorway. We attach the upper profile to the bar using self-tapping screws so that the distance between the wall (platband) and the canvas is 4-10 mm. We drill holes in the profile for self-tapping screws in the middle and chamfer them for a tight, hidden fit.

At the lower end of the door, we select a groove that does not reach the edges of 1-2 cm. The width of the groove should be 1-2 mm more than the thickness of the flag (roller). You can choose a groove using a milling cutter, or by drilling holes with further sampling with a chisel. The smooth running of the door depends on the evenness of the groove. This operation can be replaced by using a U-shaped profile of the appropriate size for a roller or 2 ∟-shaped profiles with a shelf size of 10-12 mm. We fix them with small screws to the bottom end of the canvas.

We attach brackets (brackets, canopies) to the upper end of the canvas in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions. We assemble the roller mechanisms by tightening the screws until they stop, and insert them into the profile.

We hang the canvas on the rollers and adjust the door by unscrewing the screws and maintaining a lower gap of 5-10 mm and a vertical level. Further, slightly deviating the bottom of the canvas from the wall, slip a flag (roller) into the groove and close the door. We move the checkbox all the way in the direction of opening and apply markings for its precise positioning, while maintaining a corresponding uniform gap between the wall and the canvas. Having removed the canvas from the rollers, we attach the flag to the floor according to the markings. Next, we put the canvas on the flag with a groove, and then alternately on each roller and tighten the control nuts on the screws.

We close the upper profile with a platband. If the profile was attached to the bar, then we close the upper part of the structure with an additional board using self-tapping screws with decorative plugs or using corners on the back of the extension.

We make out the opening using additional strips corresponding to the thickness of the walls, on which platbands and / or decorative corners are attached. Dobors are attached to the old box, if any, or a frame is assembled for them from rails or metal profiles. You can fasten the dobors with the help of self-tapping screws, finishing nails, liquid nails or mounting foam, which also fills the voids. The width of the opening should be less than the width of the canvas to avoid gaps when the door is closed, and the height should be such that the roller mechanisms are closed.

Washing technology for interior doors Painted and varnished surfaces of interior doors Contaminated surface is cleaned by washing with any ordinary detergent diluted in water. For washing, use a cloth or sponge soaked in a cleaning solution. The detergent is washed off with water, then the clean surface is immediately wiped dry. The use of copious amounts of water should be avoided.

Painted and varnished surfaces of interior doors

The contaminated surface is cleaned by washing with any ordinary detergent diluted in water. For washing, use a cloth or sponge soaked in a cleaning solution. The detergent is washed off with water, then the clean surface is immediately wiped dry. The use of copious amounts of water should be avoided. For washing, it is usually sufficient to use, for example, dishwashing liquid. It is also possible to use other detergents suitable for normal wet cleaning, taking into account the instructions of their manufacturer. Accordingly, detergents containing abrasives and ammonia should not be used. For normal cleaning of surfaces, it is recommended to adhere to the cycle: first washing with a detergent containing wax, and the next 1-2 washes with a normal brightening universal detergent.

Stains that are not washed off during normal washing can be removed with a soft cloth soaked in turpentine. Strong solvents (such as acetone and other thinners) must not be used as they may soften paint surfaces.

Laminated surfaces of interior doors (laminated doors - order item)

In practice, the above washing instructions also apply to interior doors with a laminated surface.

Additionally, these surfaces can withstand light brushing. If necessary, the surfaces can be washed with an alkaline solution. After this treatment, the surface of the door should be washed with detergent and dried thoroughly.

Door frame assembly or interior door installation technology

The work called how to install the doors is done on a table (better on two tables standing 1 meter apart) or on a flat floor. In any case, lay a soft material under the item to be assembled, such as cardboard from the packaging.

Regarding the installation of interior doors. Door frames are sold in a universal size for the installation of door panels from 600 to 900 mm. If you purchased a universal kit, you need to cut the top element to the size of the blade to be installed.

Trimming the upper element of the box, when deciding how to install the door, how to install doors and trim in the future, it is necessary to perform a high-quality circular saw with a dividing head, to maintain exactly 45 degrees.

The size of the upper element in terms of mating with the canvas should be equal to the width of the canvas +7 mm. Make this markup by attaching it directly to the upper end of the leaf (see figure interior doors installation, how to install an interior door yourself).

When installing wooden doors, as well as when installing steel doors. Lay the short and long elements of the box, as shown in Fig. 3, how to install interior doors. As before, we will do everything according to the technology for installing interior doors. Clamp the mating assembly with a clamp, drill through holes with a diameter of 2.5 mm at an angle of 45 degrees. Unclench the joint to be joined and drill holes with a diameter of 4.5 mm in the long element. This technology is also suitable for such a rare work at the present time as the installation of wooden entrance doors.

And of course, professional masters always work quickly, without imposing astronomical difficulties on the client without a hint of additional costs.

An indisputable advantage, due to which the installation of a sliding door system should be carried out, is a quick and fairly simple installation. All due to the fact that retractable doors on rollers do not provide for the presence of hinges, a door frame device and troublesome installation. In general, if you read about this type of doors in more detail, then it is quite possible to find many advantages, thanks to which they will eventually be preferred. Below is how to make sliding doors yourself and how easy it is to turn old swing systems into a room into the most suitable sliding doors for use.

Before you visit a specialized salon and buy everything you need to make doors yourself, you should take a construction tape measure and make a series of measurements. You will need to find out the exact width, height of the existing wood canvas (the height, usually according to the standard, will be 2 m, and the width can be 60-80 cm). Having found out these parameters, it will be easy to find everything you need.

And more specifically, in order to assemble and install the door structure, you need to purchase the following:

  1. The main device, without which functioning is impossible, is a sliding mechanism. In principle, if the width of the web is known, the specialist will be able to suggest a suitable mechanism, but it will not be out of place to know that the length of the device should be 2 times longer than the web. The design can be a little longer (the mechanism can be cut).
  2. Sliding door fittings.
  3. Lock of a special design, if necessary, its installation.

In general, these elements are already enough to remake an old swing door and make unusual sliding canvases for the kitchen, bathroom or other room. However, it is clear what needs to be done correctly, as the instructions suggest.

In addition, it is necessary to think over the device of a fresh door frame (it will need a rail, a width equal to the thickness of the wall in the doorway), a platband, a plank, a thrust rail, if it is meant to lock the interior door structure. And, of course, you will need a new canvas made of wood - only in this case it will be possible to mount an aesthetic doorway.

You can pick up and purchase everything, both in the construction market and in large specialized shopping centers. The cost of building materials is affordable - at least lower than spending on new hinged swing doors.

Tips: how to make sliding doors with your own hands

The production of the door leaf of a sliding door must be carried out according to technology. It is necessary to prepare a drawing, as well as a milling machine, you can grinder, electric drill, hammer and chisel.

So, the preparatory stage before mounting the canvas will be as follows:

  1. From the bottom along the end part of the door leaf, exactly in the central region, it is necessary to cut a groove. Its width should be 3 mm - it is needed for the operation of the guides from below, which act as a stop and prevent the web from loosening to the front and back during operation. Correctly do this work with a manual milling cutter, but if it is not there, a grinder will do. For a grinder, you need to use a special circle on wood with fine teeth.
  2. Next, you need to print a sliding roller mechanism for future sliding doors, and prepare a pair of rollers and brackets. The first step is to connect the rollers with brackets along the guide. To do this, the brackets are provided with holes in which the rollers are attached, for 2 nuts and washers. Next, the nodes must be arranged to the end located on the top of the door leaf and circle them along the contour. Then you should choose the grooves of depth, which is equal to the thickness of the metal of the staples. And then, using a screwdriver and fasteners, you need to fasten the rollers to the canvas. It is quite possible to do without inserting brackets into the end - if you perform a simple fastening to the end, then the aesthetics of the door structure will suffer less than if grooves are cut.
  3. Next, you need to put a lock. Installation of the lock in the interior door is done according to the instructions. The scheme is not complicated. A sliding door on rails can be without a lock.
  4. The next step is to complete the installation of fittings, without which a sliding sliding door cannot be considered complete. Under the handles, you need to cut 2 grooves on either side of the door, or 1 through hole. The second option is easier - you need to drill a through hole in a medium-sized door, insert a jigsaw into it and cut out a suitable place, in accordance with a pre-defined outline.

With the help of what home-made light doors will be made, it is, of course, up to the master to decide, but it is worth adding that using a manual milling cutter, you can perform all the work more accurately. With the canvas, the work is over, now you can proceed to the sliding mechanism and the installation of sliding doors.

Convenient roller doors

Hanging a sliding mechanism is not difficult - all that is needed is to strengthen the guide profile into the wall at the level of the horizon and the location of the door opening. Here it is possible to highlight just a few important points.

Namely:

  1. The edge of the guide should go beyond the limits by 5 cm (from the side where the canvas will be extended), the profile should enter exactly along the width of the canvas. This nuance must be calculated, and if necessary, trim the guide.
  2. Mounting height of the sliding mechanism - calculations will also be needed here. The size consists of 2 values \u200b\u200b- this is the height of the door leaf along with the rollers, plus a gap under the door structure, which is 1-2 cm (it all depends on the evenness of the floor surface).
  3. The installation of a conventional door on wheels (rollers), or rather the distance of the guide from a vertical surface, is not difficult.

In the last paragraph, again, the curvature of the walls must be taken into account - if they are even, then the guide is arranged directly on the wall without problems through the holes previously made in it. If the vertical surface is not even, then it may be necessary to move the guide a few millimeters away from it - in this case, the first step is to strengthen the rail to the wall, and then fix the guide on it.

The doors must be arranged on the guide, this is not difficult, since the rollers can be started from the side.

As soon as the door leaf rises correctly, it is necessary to attach a stop to the floor, under which a long groove is selected at the bottom of the door. Next, you need to open the door as much as possible so that they do not fly out. Next, from the inside of the guide to the fasteners for metal, the first step is to attach a rubber pillow, this is a limiter, and then half the stop must be inserted into the groove from below, and fasten it to the floor on the dowels on one side. Then the door must be moved in the direction of closing, select its correct position and again fix the travel limiter from above, and then fix the floor stop with 2 more dowels.

Compact sliding door

Standard sliding door designs are presented on the market with a product that fits into the doorway. The doors in this case are not hinged, but are shifted to the side, and fixed near the wall. Sliding doors Standard come in 2 main types: single-leaf, double-leaf. 1-leaf is suitable for small rooms with small doorways.

If you want to arrange a door between two small rooms and a hallway, in which footage matters, then 1-leaf sliding systems are an excellent solution.

2-leaf - ideal for spacious rooms with free doorways. Thanks to this system, you can independently adjust the size of the door opening. Types of interior doors, which, by the way, can be made not only from wood, but also from plexiglass, plastic, polycarbonate, are represented on the market by different models.

Namely:

  1. The radial system expands not in a straight line, but in a circle, reminiscent of the doors of a modern corner cabinet, dressing room. This solution will fit into the original layout of the room, which has round or curved vertical surfaces. Systems will ideally cope with the role of a false partition, with which you can zone the space. This will be especially appropriate when decorating the interior in modern style directions.
  2. Accordions or folding systems are a design of several not wide canvases that do not move apart, but are superimposed one on top of the other. The advantage of an accordion lies in the fact that the width of the doorway can in this case be quite small and large enough, it does not matter.
  3. Sliding compartment doors differ from the usual one in that the system occupies not only the door area, but the entire wall. On the one hand, depending on the materials used, this makes it possible to divide the room into 2 separate functional zones, and on the other hand, to create an individual place for each relative living in a studio apartment or 1-room housing.

Also on the market you can find cascading (suspended structure) doors. It is good to use in small rooms, they open up. The frame of this design can be made of plywood.

Modern hinged doors: advantages

Hinged compartment doors open with the help of a special mechanism (rails), which is located along a vertical surface, which, in turn, makes it possible to use the space in the room as organically as possible, arrange interior items almost anywhere, without thinking about the doorway. Due to the fact that there is no rail from below, hinged compartment doors eliminate the inconvenience when stepping over the threshold.

The advantages of the design are as follows:

  • Saving precious meters;
  • Lack of effort when opening doors;
  • From the draft, the doors do not slam and are not deformed;
  • Easy care, simplicity and comfort, unpretentiousness in terms of use, no need to often repair;
  • Installing an automatic door opener system makes the operation process easier.

Today there is a barn sliding door made of forged elements on the market, which can have Japanese or classical elements, as well as several forged parts, if desired. It is beautiful and fashionable, suitable for terrace decoration.

Choosing retractable doors: some practical tips

Professionals recommend paying attention to some more points. Fittings, trims (decor), which mask the sliding mechanism, it is important to install carefully and correctly. When choosing a system, you need to look at the length of the guide, which should be at least 2 times larger than the web itself.

If the size is smaller, the door will move out of it or not open completely. And if the size is very large, then you will have to spend more money. You also need to pay attention to the distance of the canvas from the wall. Due to the slightest gap, wallpaper or enamel can be peeled off. This problem can be solved with a lining.

How to make sliding doors with your own hands (video)

Putting a sliding system is not as difficult as it might seem at first glance. It is important to follow the technology, and take into account all the subtleties of installation.

A cozy and beautiful house - who does not dream of such happiness? Each person wants to have his own personal space where he can retire, take a break from all worries, and meditate alone. Naturally, for this, the house has a separate room in which you can hide. Of course, in such a room there must be a door. What it will be - you decide. It all depends on the features of the interior, the size and design of the room. However, now they are becoming very popular on rails and rollers.

Product Benefits

Among the advantages of the presented design are the following:

1. The possibility of self-manufacturing and installation.

2. Saving free space.

3. The ability to install a structure without a threshold. This makes your home safer for small children and more comfortable for people with any mobility restrictions.

4. Huge selection of canvas designs, sizes and colors.

5. Excellent appearance (it is more modern and neat).

6. Convenience and ease of use. Even small children can open and close such doors. Very convenient design for the disabled.

You can mount on rollers yourself. With your own hands, you can do it in one day. However, there are some subtleties that may change your decision on the manufacture of such a design.

Product Disadvantages

Such structures also have certain disadvantages:

Limiting the possibility of installing furniture next to the doorway.

Reduced noise absorption. Although this disadvantage can be easily eliminated with the help of special strips.

The need for additional free space along the wall where the door leaf will hide.

However, all these disadvantages can be easily corrected. They are not so significant. Therefore, many manufacturers recommend installing sliding doors on rollers. With your own hands, you can completely carry out the installation and screw all the fittings.

Varieties of construction mechanisms

You can install the presented doors in different ways. The point here is which design you have chosen. You can fix the doors in this way:

1. Door tightly will walk along the wall.

2. It will hide in a special niche that was made specifically for this purpose.

3. The canvas will go right into the wall.

Each design has the right to life. However, when choosing, one should take into account design preferences, the amount of free space and the complexity of the mechanism.

What tools and materials are needed for work

If you want to install sliding doors on rollers, do it yourself only if you have all the necessary tools and materials. To work, you may need:

MDF or plastic, from which you will make canvases of the future design. It should be 5 cm larger than the doorway.

accessories part). Please note that all the strips on which the door will ride must be metal.

Screwdriver and screws.

Cloths.

Pencil for marking.

Building or laser level.

Ruler.

Cashiers, as well as nails for their fastening.

Glue or epoxy.

Sliding plastic doors weigh a little, so you can choose less serious fasteners for them. Wooden doors are much heavier, but soundproof better. In this case, the fittings for sliding doors should be more durable and reliable.

Web preparation

For work, you can use not new material, but an old door. But it will need to be well processed. Keep in mind that you may need to use some old canvases to make sliding doors on rollers. You can design them with your own hands only after careful planning. They must be light in weight, therefore, internal doors should not be additionally insulated or upholstered.

The old canvas should be pre-treated: cleaned of old paint and sanded well. If you are using new material, then it must be accurately marked. Before that, it is better to draw a diagram on paper. After the canvas has been prepared, it should be marked on it where all the fittings will be placed. Dimensions must be taken in advance.

Before installation, the canvas must be decorated. To do this, you can use a special adhesive decorative film or veneer. If the door is glass, then the material must be marked out and the part of the required size cut out, preferably in the workshop.

How to choose accessories?

Sliding plastic doors or other structures cannot operate without fittings. However, it must be chosen correctly. Rollers and guides are the main parts of the structure. They must be of high quality and strong. Here, when choosing, the weight of the door leaf should be taken into account. About six rollers are most often installed on one door.

It is necessary to take into account not only the weight, but also the size of the door, as well as the mechanism of its opening. For example, one roller mechanism or two may be needed. If the door is cascading, then it is important to choose the right guides. They must have two grooves. In case it is very heavy, the guides should be on the top and bottom sides.

How to choose the right pen?

You already know that sliding door fittings must be of high quality. This also applies to pens. This element is different for swing and sliding doors. The handle can also be a door lock. It can be classic or special (bolt). In the first case, there must be a mechanism that will snap vertically.

It is also necessary to take into account the features of the installation of the handle. It should be embedded deep into the canvas. Otherwise, it will interfere with the tight closing of the doors. However, keep in mind that this element can also interfere if the canvas is hidden in the wall.

What type of rollers to choose?

Sliding doors on rollers (their price ranges from 1400-14500 rubles) fit perfectly into any interior and are very functional. However, you need to decide on their design. That is, you need to choose which videos you will mount:

Upper. They include wheels (two elements) with bearings. Thanks to their special design, they ensure a silent running of the web along the guide elements.

Lower. They are mainly responsible for how long the installed doors can last. And thanks to this component, you can adjust the design.

As you can see, the bottom roller for sliding doors should be as durable, high-quality and reliable as possible. Therefore, give preference to popular manufacturers with a good reputation and positive user reviews.

Design installation features

Installation of the product can be done independently. All work consists of several stages:

1. Marking the doorway. Here you need to correctly and accurately draw where the guides will be screwed. To do this, you can measure the door or attach it to the opening. When doing this, consider the height of the wheels.

2. Fixing guides. For fixing, you can use self-tapping screws. They are screwed on. In this case, brackets can be used. It should be noted that the guide can be screwed either to a wooden block or directly to the wall.

3. Installation of the roller mechanism. This should be done only after the guide is fixed. Please note that you must first insert a bolt into the carriage, with which it will be attached. Please note that the rollers for glass sliding doors, as the heaviest ones, must be more massive and strong. The carriages must be fixed with brackets.

4. Mounting the canvas. After all the moving fittings are installed, the matter remains small. The canvas needs to be lifted, unscrew the brackets in its upper part and install on the rollers.

5. and checking the mechanism. At this stage, you will need to adjust the course of the canvas. This is done at the bottom. If the door moves easily and without interference, then the installation can be considered complete and correct.

Thanks to these instructions, you can make sure that self-assembly is not difficult. However, you need to do it with an assistant.

Features of sliding doors without threshold

Such designs have certain advantages. You do not have any partitions (thresholds) under the canvas. This provides additional safety of movement. In addition, during the repair, you do not have to damage the flooring. It will remain safe and sound. A feature of this design is the top fastening of the canvas. Only one set of rollers for the sliding door is needed.

Installation of such a product is not difficult, but has certain features. For example, metal strips are screwed to the canvas in a strictly vertical position. From above, with the help of anchors, the same rail is attached. If you install the door yourself, it will be difficult for you to keep it on the weight. Therefore, it is better to put something under the product. Before installing the canvas, the rollers must already be screwed to it.

So that the installation work does not become a difficult test for you, you need to take into account some of the nuances of this jewelry work. The following tips will help you do everything quickly and correctly:

During the installation process, try to use the building level all the time. You can't do everything by eye.

If your floor is crooked, then during installation you need to focus on the ceiling.

Do not purchase structures that are too heavy, as they will wear out and break faster.

Do not use plastic rollers for sliding compartment doors. They are less durable than metal ones, and will last a relatively short time.

During work, try to follow the safety rules. Otherwise, you may be injured.

When operating sliding roller doors, it is necessary to treat the structure carefully and carefully. Do not overload the system, for example, do not allow children to ride on them. Also, keep the guides clean. The rollers will need to be lubricated periodically. Do not move or close the sash abruptly.

That's all the features of roller doors. Good luck!

To use the useful living space to the maximum, the owners make sliding interior doors with their own hands. They create a unique design, capable of both dividing the living space into separate sectors, and combining them in one room.

Attractiveness and disadvantages of sliding structures

You should be aware in detail what advantages sliding doors have, as well as possible problems that will have to be addressed. Of the advantages, the ability to save space is distinguished, even in an ordinary apartment there will be additional meters. Plus, with such doors, any housing acquires individuality, is transformed.

Such a design is not subject to drafts. Some options are executed without thresholds, which is important if there are elderly, disabled or small children among the residents. Installation and subsequent use of the sliding partition is simple. Today's technologies provide the ability to automate the product, which gives additional convenience.

Disadvantages can appear if you use the design illiterately. It is necessary to keep the guides and the roller system in good condition and clean at all times. Dirty mechanisms are damaged, the door leaf jams. Very poor sound insulation due to cracks brings additional inconvenience. Also, odors from other rooms will penetrate into the living rooms through the cracks.

It is more difficult to install a sliding door than a swing door; high precision is required. Moving leaves require precise alignment with each other and with respect to the door frame. Many are afraid of the high prices for sliding structures, which cannot be considered their advantage.

Various design options

All hinged doors work on the same principle: they do not swing open, but move along the wall and other door panels. Execution has several options:

  • traditional using the principle of a wardrobe;
  • cascading;
  • in the form of a folding accordion or book;
  • doors moving along radial guides.

In any design, the use of one, two or more wings is allowed.

Sliding doors are among the simplest in execution, have many subspecies. It is more reliable to make them with two - upper and lower - guides for moving the valves. However, this option is difficult, as it requires an absolutely precise fit of both guides. The bottom rail is attached to the floor, where it forms a threshold, or hidden in a recess. The big disadvantage is that dust and debris are constantly collected there, slowing down and blocking the operation of the door. Therefore, it is necessary to constantly clean the bottom rail.

Suspended structures consist of one guide at the top, the bottom one is not used. The mounting location of the rails is chosen depending on the height of the door: it can be a wall or a ceiling. The guide is closed by a decorative panel or left open. The disadvantage of this design can be considered the fact that it is problematic to put furniture or something else against the wall from the opening side of the door.

Cassette doors are made in a suspended version or on two rails. They differ from others in that when the partition is opened, the door leaf is hidden in a niche. In a private house, it is better to plan such a pencil case in advance; in an apartment, it is permissible to make it from drywall. Of course, a niche will take up useful space, but the losses are compensated by good sound insulation. You will have to do a lot of alterations, in addition, the performance of the cassette is added to the cost.

The device of cascading doors is carried out with two guides - from below and from above, each leaf moves along its own rail. The advantages of a system made of do-it-yourself sliding doors is that you can fence off zones or expand the area to the hall by collecting canvases on one side. For doors, natural glass is often used as a material, the lower rail is sunk into the floor, and the upper one is attached to the ceiling.

Harmonicas consist of a certain number of canvases on end loops. The width of the canvases is a multiple of the dimensions of the doorway and is limited by the availability of free space. If an accordion interior partition is planned, the guides are attached to the floor and ceiling. A significant design flaw: very poor heat and sound insulation.

Radius systems are uniquely suitable only for large-area housing. To install it, create a special semicircular drywall profile or buy a finished structure. Radial doors work on two guides, their location is available on either side of the opening or in a cassette. The sound and thermal insulation of the structure is excellent, but self-production is difficult, without certain skills it is impossible to cope.

Sliding doors organically fit into any interior. They have an amazing ability to transform living space. In practice, sliding partitions are used to zone large spaces. The closed door divides the room into separate zones, and the expanded partition returns the original area.

Deserves attention and experience in the use of sliding partitions between loggias, terraces and living rooms. Especially effective is the use of glass, which freely transmits light. The partition, open in the summer, will immensely expand the area, creating a single space. Sliding doors are also used in utility rooms, saving usable space. Sliding structures for separating the kitchen, toilet, bathroom are not used, as odors will penetrate into the living quarters.

The choice of fittings, mechanism and leaf for the door

The fittings have their own characteristics, determined by the type of sliding door device. The handles are hidden in the door leaf so as not to interfere with the movement of the canvases relative to each other. The recessed handles also allow the door to be easily hidden in the cassette. Locks differ in that they snap the door vertically.

Buying a door leaf in a store has advantages: the product is equipped with already installed fittings or it comes separately, but selected specifically for this model. When searching for handles and locks on your own, utmost attention is required so as not to make a mistake in choosing. It is better to choose fittings with a specialist or from a catalog.

The mechanism of roller rollers and guides are selected taking into account the following criteria:

  • constructive option;
  • number of door leaves;
  • door leaf material.

When choosing rollers, the load that the door leaf creates on the entire structure is taken into account. MDF, for example, weighs much less than glass, therefore, the carriage rollers in the first version are simplified and cheaper. For a heavy door leaf like glass, you need to install the top and bottom rails. Impeccable operation depends on the conformity of the guides and roller mechanisms of the design, their quality, as well as the accuracy and accuracy of installation. For cascading doors, books, compartments, the required number of rollers is taken into account and suitable guides are selected.

The building materials market provides the buyer with a wide selection of canvases from different materials and a variety of design solutions. Cloths should be as close as possible to the size of the doorway, taking into account the box. The most acceptable door width is 90 cm, but can vary between 60–120 cm. The standard height is 210 cm, but can be up to 250 cm.

When choosing a product, preference is given to those with low weight: plastic, MDF, laminate, bamboo. Such interior doors are easier to manage, it is possible to use lightweight roller mechanisms. For large mass structures like metal, glass, solid wood, a competent, even professional selection of the mechanism and guides is required. You should not purchase a canvas with protruding elements, no matter how beautiful they may seem. The protrusions can interfere with the free operation of the structure.

How to mount sliding doors - general rules for any design

Different designs and a variety of products do not allow us to dwell on the installation features of each individual type of sliding door with our own hands. But the main points are the same for doors of any kind. Having learned the general rules on how to make sliding doors with your own hands from one canvas, it is easy to make a sliding product from more canvases.

Before buying a door leaf, the opening is measured in several places, a wooden box is made to size and installed. The installed but not fixed box is carefully checked for horizontal and vertical, adjusted if necessary. A correctly exposed box is attached to the wall with anchor bolts, the slots are blown out with mounting foam. The desired width of the doorway is 90 cm for one leaf and 120-150 cm for a double door. With a larger width, you will need to install three or more canvases.

Installing a door on rollers with your own hands begins with determining the location for the top rail. To calculate it, about 20 mm is added to the height of the door as a gap between the door and the floor and another 7 cm. Two marks are left on the wall at the top of the opening, along which a horizontal line is drawn. A beam is attached to the wall, the lower edge of which coincides with the drawn line. A guide is attached to the lower edge of the beam with self-tapping screws, stepping back from the wall by 7 mm.

The guides are equal in length to the total width of the door panels plus 5 cm for normal door operation.

Next in line is the installation of the roller mechanism; brackets are first attached to the canvas. There is no need to describe in detail the installation of roller carriages, the process is described in detail in the instructions that are supplied with each purchase. Clip holders are attached to the sides of the door, which are best suited for all models, except for the door-book, which is used. In glass products, rubber gaskets are used to fix the glass. At the same time, you can mount handles and locks, if necessary.

Next, proceed to the installation of the valves. It is better if there is an assistant, then one person holds the canvas, and the second guides the carriages in profile. Then the result is checked. If the guides are initially installed strictly horizontally, the door should not move anywhere on its own. Adjusting bolts of the carriages, the door is set in an exact vertical position, if such a need arises. Check the movement of the canvas, which should be easy, without jamming. Limiters are installed in the form of special plugs or studs so that the carriages do not come out of the grooves.

For silent and durable operation of the door, it is better to choose rubber stops.

In order for the whole structure to acquire a finished and beautiful appearance, as well as to ensure the safety of the mechanical part, which can be damaged by dust and dirt, platbands are mounted. Open mechanisms need them; there is no such need for a door in a pencil case.

Making a sliding door with your own hands is easy. The main requirement is the utmost precision and accuracy in work. Skillfully applying your master's talent in practice, you can achieve excellent results the first time.

The hinged design of the doors is not always convenient. Firstly, when opening the sash requires a certain area. Secondly, the installation of a swing system is a rather difficult task. Thirdly, it can be installed only if there is a separating partition.

Interior doors on rollers are devoid of the above disadvantages.

Advantages and disadvantages of a sliding system

The design of roller doors is quite simple. The door leaf, when opened, moves along the wall along the guide. There can be two guides - top and bottom, or one - only the top. Sash - one or two, slide along the guides on rollers, or rather roller hangers. The advantages of such a system are obvious.

  • Saving space - the sash does not occupy the area of the room, which means that there is no need to leave free space in front of the door.
  • Installation - performed on the opening, in the opening and directly on the ceiling.
  • Door frame is missing. The installation and centering of the latter is the main difficulty when installing a swing structure.
  • Threshold - if a suspended sliding system is used, then there is no lower guide, which means that the floor covering will not be damaged in any way.

  • Interior - sliding interior doors, ceteris paribus, looks much lighter and more elegant. And thanks to the materials used, it is not difficult to fit the design into the design of any style.
  • Noiselessness - movement along the guides is not accompanied by any sounds. And, since the opening of the sash, even with a very sharp movement, is not accompanied by a blow to the wall, the service life of the sliding system exceeds the service life of the swing system.

Flaws.

  • Compared to the hinged design, the sliding one is characterized by less heat and noise insulation.
  • The sash takes up space on the wall. This should be taken into account when placing furniture.

Interior doors in the interior

Sliding systems can be made in different forms, and this matters for the design of the room.

  • The door is installed on the opening, as a rule, from the outside of the room. In this case, attention should be paid to the design of the doorway from the side of the room.
  • The design is mounted on the ceiling - the best option for interior partitions. For this installation method, the nature of the wall does not matter, which allows you to install the system even on drywall.
  • Cassette system - the kit includes a special metal case, which is erected together with the door leaf and disguised as a wall. The sash, when opened, goes into a false wall. In the photo - cassette design.

The sliding system is implemented in two ways.

  • Hinged - the canvas moves along the lower guide, and the upper one maintains the sash in a vertical position.
  • Suspended - the sash moves only along the upper rail, the lower one is missing. It should be noted that the sound insulation of the suspension system is lower, since the gap between the canvas and the floor is at least 10 mm.

Materials and design

  • Solid wood and veneer - for the sliding structure, these classic noble materials are used as widely as for the swing. Only wood gives the interior of the room that aura of comfort and respectability, which is so appreciated in classical styles. In the photo - sliding doors made of oak.

  • MDF - in general, perform the same role, as it is an affordable imitation of wood.
  • Glass inserts - glass elements are traditionally used to decorate the interior design. With the help of various glass processing - matting, painting, silk-screen printing, you can achieve very interesting effects. For example, wooden doors with a delicate pattern on the glass are perfect for Mediterranean styles.
  • Glass - framed or solid, ideal for techno, high-tech, minimalism and the like. In the photo - curvilinear glass doors.
  • Inserts from non-traditional materials - fabric, leather, specially processed glass and even artificial stone. As a rule, steel or aluminum frames are chosen for such experiments. The result looks equally impressive in vintage and futuristic styles.

Do-it-yourself sliding system installation

The first and only requirement for the installation site is smooth walls, since the doors move along them.

  1. The bottom rail is fixed to the floor. Its length should be two widths of the canvas plus 50 mm of clearance on one side of the opening.
  2. Rollers are mounted on the door leaf.
  3. The door leaf is inserted into the lower rail and markings are made for the upper rail.
  4. The upper one is mounted on a wooden beam with a section of 40 * 40 mm, and then the beam with a profile is mounted on the wall according to the markings.
  5. Stoppers are installed to limit the free movement of the sash.
  6. The door leaf is inserted into the upper guide, lifted and installed in the lower one on the rollers. Then, using the adjusting screws on the rollers, the position of the sash is specified - it must be strictly vertical.
